YuGiOh GX: The true meaning of darkness *english only*

so much for that, now relax and enjoy:

Chapter 9: The abandoned dorm, part one

Just when Alan entered the Osiris dorm at this night, another person was still outside and waited for a special guest. The person was Professor Chronos, the dorm-leader of Obelisk and the instructor for card knowledge in Alan’s class.
He was standing near the port of the Academy and looked around nervously, he just hoped that no one was near, that could see him. Even though his intentions were absolutely pure, they were not completely legal. But he would do anything to get rid of this dropout boy.
Directly after the lessons he had searched the net for information about the shadow duellist and finally found a cell number and could get contact to the mercenary. His name was Titan. It only took some minutes and well...some yen to persuade him to come.
Chronos smiled at the moon and looked forward to the time when Yuki Judai would have to leave the Academy in shame.
While he was in his thoughts he almost didn’t notice the black paraglide that flew above his head. It was shaped like a gigantic bat and could really creep you out when your not ready.
“Mamma mia...”, Chronos whispered and watched the glider landing directly in front of him.
The person that landed with the frightening thing freed itself from the belts and walked at Chronos with a grim look upon his face.
“Chronos de Mediz?”, asked the dark duellist with an voice colder then ice. He was very tall, at least 190 cm, and wore a black coat with a deck holder attached to the chest. His face was covered by a grey and black mask and he wore a black hat additionally.
His left arm was almost completely covered by a metallic gauntlet that would most likely be his duel disc.
“That would be me...”, answered Chronos and tried to seem self-confident.
“What is the name of my prey?”
>He comes to the point quickly...good...<, thought the thin professor and smiled demonically.
“Yuki Judai, I want you to crush his spirit and make him leave my Academy.”
“That’ll be easy, consider it done.”

But Yuki should not be the only one who would have to fight a terrible demon soon.
When Alan entered the room number 19 in the Red dorm he could barely escape a deadly pillow attack of a certain dirty-blonde girl.
The girl, who was Toni of course, already wore her Kuriboh pyjamas and had another pillow in her hand. She was standing in the middle of the room. “I was waiting for you...”, she said with burning eyes.
“What’s the meaning of this?”, Alan asked annoyed while he took the pillow from the ground.
“She wants to “talk” with you about your behaviour in the dinning room...you should run...”, Ben said silently with a scarred tone. One gaze from Toni made him hide under his blanket.
“Sit down!!”, Toni shouted and pointed at her bed. Alan looked in her eyes and sighed.
“Not now...have to much stuff in mind...”, said the blonde boy and just passed the girl without even caring for her angry face. He just laid down on his own bed, crossed his arms behind his head and closed his eyes.
Toni stood there with a pale face, even though her anger wasn’t gone completely there was another much more intense feeling in her chest right now. Her eyes only met his for the blink of a second, but that was enough. She had seen what was behind this cold and rudeness of him: A terrible sorrow. Somehow she felt sorry for him, what was he hiding? Maybe when she knew about his secret she could understand him better, but...forcing him to tell her wouldn’t help.
“...I see...alright then just remember this: We are roommates after all, if you got a problem and want to talk about it, I am here for you.”
Alan opened one of his eyes and looked at the girl with the cute Hane Kuriboh pyjama. “...you done now...?”, he asked as cold as he could.
“I am...you too?”, she said and walked slowly to her bed without exploding, like both of the boys thought.

>>> “Have you understood, boy? Have you understood what will happen and what your role will be?”, said the dark person with glowing eyes. And the small blonde boy could just stand there and tried to stop shivering. It was very cold in that place and everything was dark.
“Hai, sensei.”
The dark person smiled demonically.<<<
Alan ripped his eyes open and starred at the ceiling of room 19 again. The dream was exactly like the one before. Everything was dark around him and he couldn’t see the face of the person he always called “master”. It seemed likely that this master send him on a mission after training him, but because of some very odd reason he couldn’t remember it.
His hand reached for the watch, that was lying on his small desk. It was just six AM, he had the choice to try sleeping for another hour or he could get up and do something else.
Well, considering his dreams in the last nights sleeping just didn’t sound too good, so he snug out of his bed and into his clothes. Being alone a couple of minutes wouldn’t be bad.
On his way to the door he stopped at Toni’ s bed and looked at her a few seconds, she seemed so peaceful when asleep.
>...stupid girl...should mind her own business...<
She mumbled something and moved in her bed, he just hoped that she wouldn’t wake up now. God knows what she would think of him when she would open her eyes now. He turned away and went silently like a cat to the door.
It wasn’t pitch black anymore, the sun was lurking behind the horizon and send some beams of light already. Alan walked down the stairs and towards the high cliffs, he stood so near at the edge that the tips of his sneakers were hanging in the air. He would just have to take one step further and all his problems were gone. The cliffs were at least fifty meters high, jumping down meant death.
He smiled a bit at his thoughts. Suicide was the way of weaklings who didn’t have the strength to live on and he absolutely was no weakling, or so he thought.
“ARE YOU ABSOLUTELY NUTS!!!?”, shouted a familiar voice behind him and he almost lost his balance at the edge. A hand grabbed him at the back of his shirt and pulled him back, he landed in the grass halve a meter away from the cliff.
Alan rolled his eyes and turned around to see exactly what he thought to see. Toni was lying directly behind him with a scary mixture of anger and fear in her face.
“You idiot!!!”, she shouted and grabbed him at his collar. “Are you trying to get yourself killed?”
Toni must have been hearing him when he left and, as he thought before, couldn’t mind her own business. She still wore her pyjama, which was know wet and dirty from the meadow she was sitting in.
“What if...?”, he asked back and got his answer quicker then he would have thought. Her strong fist hit him in his face and brought him flat down to the ground.
He stared at her surprised and then he saw something even more surprising then her impressive arm strength. Her eyes were totally wet, she seemed to try to hold back her tears with force and sniffed.
“...you stupid ...idiot...”, she sobbed.
This was the first time he saw her showing other emotions then anger and rage, and it came to his mind that she might have had a secret herself, something that had happened in her past.
“I never intended to...”, he said and stood up.
“...What...?”
“I never thought of killing myself...”, he continued and loosened the knot in the sleeves of his Osiris jacket.
“You didn’t?...”, she sobbed again and as she began to understand his words she turned as red as Alan‘s jacket, which was at this moment falling down on her shoulders.
“I didn’t... but...you will kill yourself if you stay outside like this.”, he said and pulled her up form the wet grass. She didn’t even notice the cold up until now, but the shivering started immediately and she covered herself with the thick stuff of Alan’s jacket.
Alan was already at the stairs and turned around. “Will ya come already?”, he said and turned to the stairs again. His cheek was turning deep red. The pain was quite admirable and somehow he had to smile a little.
>...maybe I could get to like her...maybe<, he thought and walked up the stairs.
“Wait for me then!!”, the girl shouted and ran after him.

“Oh...damn...this is a joke right?”, asked Ben while he stared at a poster that was hanging out in his classroom that morning. He hadn’t even noticed the little drama with Toni and Alan and just slept until seven. His two roommates had been getting dressed already when he woke up and were sitting on their beds reading something. Well, for Alan being awake at this time wasn’t new, but Toni always had trouble getting up early. He wondered what might have happened with them, but couldn’t find the courage to ask. It could have been something private.
Anyway after getting up they had been going to class together and now he was standing at one of the walls of classroom 419 with Toni and at least ten other students of Ra and Obelisk.
The poster had the title: EXAM.
Ben swallowed hardly and read the short text again. “Once a month the practical exam will decide about your status in the Duel Academy. You will have to duel one opponent from your own dorm and if you can succeed you can take your chance in duelling an opponent from the higher dorms. So prepare well.” Yes, this just had to be a joke. If it would be real it would mean that you could be expelled when losing. And the worst thing was that the first exam would be the day after tomorrow.
“No this is real...”, said Toni with a worried look at him. “...we are in trouble right?”
Ben nodded. They both looked down to Alan, who was sitting on his place already without even caring for the announcement on the wall. “What about him? Have you seen his duel in the exam?”, Ben asked while they were walking to their places. “No, I was a bit late and didn’t have time to watch other duels. And he hasn’t duelled since we are here either, I don’t even know his deck-theme...”
“Yeah right, but he didn’t seem to be concerned because of the exam. You think that he is that strong?”
Toni grinned: “Nah...he’s just an idiot...”.

The lessons went on the same slow way they did every day and finally after their last lesson with Chronos they were released to their dorms. Alan walked calmly as nothing had happened, he seemed not to think of the events this morning. Toni on the other hand couldn’t forget about this terrible moment when she opened the door of their room and saw him standing directly at the edge of the cliff.
She was walking directly behind the cold idiot and felt so down. First this bizarre event before dawn and now this exam...could this day get worse?
She didn't know.
But the one thing that she really didn’t know was that this day wasn’t over at all and it actually could get even worse then she could ever imagine.

Chapter 10: The abandoned dorm, part two

Asuka Tenjoin had made her decision. She would never give up on her brother and would find him at any means necessary, even if it meant to break the rules of the Academy and get expelled for that.
The abandoned dorm was the only hint she had at her brother, but the entrance was strictly forbidden for all students. Anyway she had to go and look if there were any traces, it could be dangerous but she was prepared for everything.
>Oh Fubuki...you better be in there anywhere...<, she thought and sneaked out of her bed. She had kept her uniform on and just pretended to be asleep when the dorm leader looked around.
It was always the same routine. At ten PM, the red haired women went through all the rooms and looked if everyone was there and if there was anyone not belonging here, boys especially.
There were a few couples at the Academy, but up until now Asuka had not heard of any “incidents” at night. Sometimes Momoe and Junko had told her stories about couples in the forest, not that she were interested in it, Momoe and Junko just loved to spread rumours.
It was now half past ten, the teacher was long gone to bed, as Asuka found out when sneaking outside the night before. Now was the time to leave.
She put her boots on, grabbed the flashlight, that she stored in one of her desks and went to the door slowly, listening to every sound.
Her heart was pounding from the adrenaline and her senses were sharp as never before, she couldn’t know that all her senses wouldn’t help her at all.

Approximately one and half hour later:
For Alan and his two roommates the day had been quiet, after all there wasn’t much you could do in your free time, so most of the students improved their duelling skills with each other.
After classes the inhabitants of room 19 ate lunch and spend their day in the room. Toni and Alan didn’t talk more then absolutely necessary, but somehow their relationship had changed. At least that was what Ben thought.
Alan had been waiting for them to finish lunch and he didn’t show her the cold shoulder anymore, meaning he didn’t call her pathetic or looking at her with this terrible cold eyes. Well, considering Ben his behaviour hadn’t changed that much. They were far away from being friends, he could consider himself lucky when he ever got him to say something to him.
Now after eating dinner, which consisted of rice and salmon, they had been going to their room, because Toni insisted to work on her deck for the exam.
“And you really think this combo will work?”, Toni raised one eyebrow and took the two cards that Ben handed her. It were “Bad Reaction to Simonchi” (Trap/ Continous/ As long as this card remains face-up on the field, when your opponents Life Points would be increased by a card effect, negate that effect and do damage to your opponent equal to the amount of Life Points gained.) and “Burning Algae” (Fire/Pyro/3/500/1500/ When this card is send to the graveyard increase your opponents Life Points by 1000)
“Sure, If you play them together you can do a 1000 damage easily.”, Ben said and smiled brightly. He had his PDA lying next to him and searched his database for good fire and pyro cards. Toni had her cards and deck spread on the floor and looked through it. Alan was lying on his bed a usual and was reading in another card magazine.
“That’s stupid...this combo would ruin her deck...”, he said without taking his eyes from the magazine. “...What? It is just a perfect way to protect her life points with a monster and do damage directly. What would ruin her deck in this?”, Ben asked with a very little tone of annoyance in his voice.
“....you ever heard the word deathdraw?...”, Alan asked back still looking at his magazine, “If she would only have one of these card in her hand it’ll be useless, or in case of burning algae it would even help the opponents ...that’ s what...”
Ben looked to the ground a bit depressed, he had failed again, Alan was absolutely right.
“Don’t listen to him...at least YOU were so friendly to help me when OTHER people had something better to do...”, Toni said comforting and send a sharp view at Alan.
“Maybe, but he is right anyway... lemme search my data again...”, he grabbed his PDA and hit some buttons when the door was suddenly ripped open.
“Alan!! Ben!! Toni!!”, shouted a familiar voice and Alan shrugged in precognisance. Yuki was standing in the door with Marufuji Sho and a guy looking like a koala.
“Hey guys, couldn’t you knock at least? I could have been undressed!!”, Toni said sharply at Judai.
“Gee, sorry. We just are so excited”, Yuki was smiling brightly, and now the three inhabitants of room 19 saw the flashlight in his hand.
“What are you doing?”, asked Ben with a uneasy feeling in his stomach, Marufuji had the same look upon his face.
“Daitokuji just told us a real scary ghost-story about disappearing students in an old dorm in the forest, so we thought to check it out. You guys coming along?”
>...disappearing students...old dorm...this must be what Asuka told me...it might have some connection to the “yami no game”<, Alan thought and closed his magazine. “I’ll come with ya”, he said and put his osiris jacket around his waist with a knot in the front.
“Sounds somehow interesting...I can build my deck sometime else”, Toni said and stood up from the ground. It surely sounded exciting, but she was much more interested in Alans reason for coming along, he normally wasn’t interested in something like that.
Ben stood up too and slid his PDA into his pocket. He wasn’t happy about this nightly walk, but staying here would be what his older self had done. He wanted to change and this might be one way.
“Great then it’s decided!!”, Judai shouted and made his typical winning pose.

The building called abandoned dorm was a rotten version of the Ra Yellow dorm, it had many windows, which were mostly destroyed and dirty. The walls were black and covered by moss and ivy, it was really a scary looking object, especially at night.
Asuka just left the forest behind herself and stood at the same place that she had stood last night and left the rose for Fubuki. It was gone.
Her flashlight could just shine on the empty and muddy ground, there was no mistaking it, someone had been taking the rose away.
“...Fubuki...?”, she whispered and took one step forward through the rusty gate of the dorm.
No Answer. Of course there was none, most likely the rose was taken away by the wind or an animal.
Her courage sank a bit, but there was no going back now, she just had to proceed.
Not far away from her stood a dark person with a blood red rose in his hand. “You will be quite useful...”, said the person and squashed the rose in his hand.

The forest inhabited at least two thirds of the island and was totally natural, there were only very few ways leading through it. Judai was walking at the front of the group with an excited smile on his face. He really seemed not to worry about anything.
Alan walked behind him with his hands in the jeans pockets, he liked the darkness of the night, the flashlight was more annoying then useful.
“And your sure that you know the way, Yuki?”, asked Toni unsure. She wasn’t even sure if she could find her way back to the dorm now.
“Ah...sure we’ll just have to follow this pass until we will reach the big oak, then we turn left until we find the stone with the moss on, then the dorm should be directly in front of us.” He smiled brightly.
“Uhm...Yuki...you know this is a goddamn oak forest, there are a thousands of oak trees here!! And there are at least one hundred stones with moss on them!!”, Toni shouted in despair.
“Hmm...your right, that’ll be a problem.”, Judai answered and kept his smile on.
Toni slapped him on the back of his head.
“This is terrible, we’ll die outside here, we’ll starve to death and die, I just know it!!”, she cried desperate.
Alan just walked on and then stopped at something really wired. “...guys...come here...”, he said as calm as ever and made Toni stop her pathetic triad of fear.
He stood at one of the oak trees and looked at a small piece of paper, that couldn’t have been hanging here for long. It was still white and the nail that hold it in the tree had no stain on it. The symbol on it was as easy as it was scary: An red arrow pointing to the left, the lines were in such a deep red that it could only be one thing.
“This is just colour right?”, asked Marufuji and turned pale.
Alan slit over the lines with his index finger, the red “colour” spread under his finger and left a red finger print on the paper. “Nah....blood...someone has been waiting for us.”
Toni eyes opened wide: “Blood? What is happening here? We are not in a horror movie right?”
“Who knows, let’s just go on!!”, Judai said and followed the direction that the arrow pointed to. “Oh this guy’s terrible...”, Toni sighed and went after him.
No one noticed the dark person that was standing behind another tree, smiling like a demon.

The shadow duellist called Titan waited for the six kids to be far enough away and walked on the shortcut, that he had planed for himself to get to the dark building, that he liked so much.
It had been love on first sight, this old house was the absolutely perfect place to break Yuki Judai’ s spirit. It was quite unfortunate that he had so many friends with him, but that wouldn’t help him.
Plus he had the perfect bait in his hand. He had observed Judai the last day and saw that he and the girl had become friends. It would be pretty easy to drag him into a duel with her life on the line and she was already tied and bound at his duel-ground.
He touched the millennium puzzle in his coat pocket and couldn’t wait to use it against this poor guy. He always enjoyed to crush duellists with such a spirit and earning some Yen with it was even better.
Laughing gruesome he quickly reached the abandoned dorm, the little group of Yuki Judai would need another few minutes, he had hung arrows on several trees, all written with the blood of the girl. These arrows would bring them to the house in the end, but they were pointing to a much longer way.
Now he would only have to wait for his prey to arrive.

It took the group another ten minutes to reach the old and scary looking house that was called the abandoned dorm. The papers with the arrows had lead them directly here, it was now certain that someone wanted them to come exactly here. But why?
Toni got goose bumps just by looking at this building, it was so terrible cold and dark around here, even the moonlight seemed to help nothing.
“Are we really going in there?”, she asked shivering.
“’Course we are, someone wanted us here so we will at least say hi.”, Judai answered and walked through the destroyed gate.
“...move already...,” Alan said to Toni and followed Judai. This whole story turned out to get more and more interesting, first this blood signs and now a very strong aura of evil. He couldn’t remember when, but he had felt such an aura before, but that time it was a hundred times stronger.
“Alright...but let’s be careful, okay?”, the girl said and followed them.
The other three guys, especially Ben and Sho, were even more scared then Toni, they were pale as snow. They just couldn’t move.
Hayato, the koala-guy, saw how Judai and Alan stood in front of the big wooden door to the dorm and had a terrible feeling inside his stomach.
“Hey guys are you going to wait here?”, asked Judai and pulled the door open.
Waiting outside ins this dark forest? The alternative wasn’t that great too, but being outside while a crazy guy was running around here made them feel even worse.
“No no...w-we are comin’...”, said Ben with a shivering voice and walked towards the others.

Well, for ghost-houses there has always been one important rule. The scarier they look from the outside the even scarier they are on the inside.
Toni just learned about this rule on a very personal way and wished to be in her bed now.
The dorm consisted of sheer endless rooms and paths, all over the place there were spiderwebs and so much dirt that the whole place looked like after a bomb explosion. The walls were partly cracked and the wooden floor was making a terrible noise with every step.
>Yeah, that is exactly what a ghost house should look like.<, Toni thought and felt more and more uncomfortable. Even Stephen King wouldn’t be able to think of a more terrorising surrounding.
“Another sign...”, Alan said and pointed to an arrow on the wall, this time made by chalk.
He didn’t like how they were lead to where some ill guy wanted them, but it could have something to do with his past, thus he had to proceed.
Suddenly something caught his eye, a big slate that was filling at least three meters of the left wall. “What is this?”, asked Marufuji and looked at the weird symbols on the slate.
“This is Egyptian language, and these things are the Millennium Items, didn’t you know that the king of games had to do something with this items. However they are said to have perished ten years ago.”, said Ben and flipped the monitor of his PDA open. “There are seven of them, Millenium Puzzle, Rod, Tauk, Ring, Eye, Scale and Key. They seemed to posses magical shadow power, but that is only a rumour.”, he read from an Internet page.
“Yeah...right “magical shadow power”...as if something like that exists...”, Marufuji mumbled.
“You wouldn’t believe, what weird things there are in this world....”, Alan said and took a closer look at the slate. The stone had a soft yellow colour like sand, the seven items were displayed in a circle with the Millenium Puzzle in the centre.
A picture flashed through his mind, the dark person that he just knew as “master” was looking at him as something golden started to shine in his hand. The picture was gone as fast as it came, but he was sure that the shining golden thing was one of this items, although he couldn’t recognise it. After all it had already paid off to come here.
“Alan?”, suddenly he was back in the old dorm, and a pair of green eyes looked at him. Toni.
“You look so...concerned, that sure is unusual for you. But don’t worry we all are scared.”
Alan looked at her and raised one eyebrow while her words sank into his mind.
“...I’m not scared...have been in thoughts...”, he said rudely and turned away from the girl.
“Yeah...that fits much better...”, Toni mumbled silently and shook her head.

The kids were coming.
Titan could hear them sneaking through his house of terror, he could have planted some traps for them easily, but that would make his job far too easy. His opponent would just be a kid, a boy of fifteen years. Such an easy job, didn’t demand on using such methods. The only problem was to get his prey to except his challenge. Many duellists have been trying to run away when they saw him. That was quite annoying, so he started to work by using a suitable bait, mostly he took someone from the family, children have always been effective. Threatening their life worked out just fine to drag someone into a duel.
He glared at his momentary bait. The girl was lying in an old black coffin that he found in here, unconscious, like a little doll. She was quite cute, would be a waste to forfeit her soul to the shadow realm, but a job was a job after all. Even though this fool Chronos only paid him for the destruction of Yuki Judai, having some fun wouldn’t be a bad thing.
The girl’s finger was still bleeding a bit from the small cut, that he had done to write his arrows, but other then this she was in best condition. Up until now, that was.
The sounds grew louder and he could almost feel their fear after they had been running through this dark mansion. They would be shivering and crying by now, begging him to let them go.
He smiled at this thought.
Only a few seconds later the moment that he had been waiting for had come. The door to his pandemonium was opened and his prey came in.

After the group had followed the signs through the whole mansion they were finally lead here, a big wooden door with another Egyptian symbol on it, an eye that also was on each millennium item. Alan knelled down and laid one finger on the ground. There were a few small drops of a red liquid. “... more blood...he is here...”
Yuki pressed against the wall and it opened with a loud shrieking noise, the group stepped in carefully.
A big room opened in front of them, it must have been the duelling arena for this dorm, but now it was as rotten as the rest of the house.
Alan immediately noticed the tall guy standing in one of the shadows, he was smiling diabolically . “Who are you?...”, he said sharply and used his coldest view at the masked man. The others were looking at him silently with a uncomfortable look upon their faces, except Judai who looked at the dark guy seriously. It was quite a surprising sight to see him without a smile.
The dark person opened his mouth and spoke with a voice sharp as a knife and cold as ice.
“Yuki Judai, I am Titan, the ultimate yami no duellist. I challenge you to a duel.”
Alan’s blue eyes narrowed, as he listened to him.
“If you win, you can go...”, with this words of the yami no duellist the door behind the six students closed hardly and was locked automatically.
“..., but if you should lose, this girl and all of you will have to give your soul to the shadows.”
The guy called Titan pointed to a black coffin at one of the walls and Judai gasped at what he saw. “Asuka? What have you done to her?”, Judai shouted, his mostly friendly face had became a mask of anger. Asuka had become a good friend after he had duelled her at night, he would protect her no matter what.
Alan recognised the girl from the lighthouse and felt something that could have been rage at this guy, but there was another thing that he wanted this guy to pay for, already.
“Nothing... for now, but if you’ll lose...”, Titan said and licked his upper lip.
Judai took a duel disc from his backpack:
“Alright then I will make you pay...!!”
He wanted to attach the duel disc to his arm, but suddenly a hand grabbed it and snatched it from him.
“Nani...?” Judai turned to the person, who took his disc and gasped.
Alan glared back at him silently and attached the duel disc to his arm. “Step aside...this guy’s mine!”
“Hey, wait are you sure...?”, Judai was not really surprised, but since Asuka’ s and all their lives were on stake, he’d rather taken the challenge himself.
“I said: this guy is mine!”, Alan said sharp and activated the disc.
“Hey are you stupid? Let Yuki do it, he beat Professor Chronos, so he surely is better then you...are you trying to get us killed!!”, Toni said and grabbed Alan’ s shoulder.
“Shut up...” he said and shook her off.
“Idiot!!” Toni exclaimed very pissed and frightened. When this idiot couldn’t do it everything was over, she would never fulfil her dream.
Alan stepped into the arena meanwhile and opened the deckbox at his belt like a cowboy his holster. Titan just looked at him with a bored face.
“You are not my prey, I want Yuki Judai.”
“Still you will fight me now...”
“And why would I waste my time with you...”
“You call yourself a shadow duellist, right?”, Alan said in a somehow provoking tone.
“Of course...I am Titan, the ultimate shadow duellist...and still not interested.”, the dark guy said.
Alan suddenly laughed loudly, something that none of the osiris students never heard before. But it wasn’t a happy or friendly laugh, it was pure disrespect, he really stood there and laughed at this terrible guy who would kill them and this girl without hesitation.
Toni sure hoped that he knew what he was doing.
>Of course he does not... he is playing with our lives.<
“A shadow duellist? You? Don’t make me laugh...”, the blonde boy said with a scary smile and glared at the guy with his cold eyes.
“Damn brat, alright...you got me, I’ll bring you down first. And after my victory, I will take all your souls and offer it to the shadows.”, Titan said and pressed a button on his metal gauntlet, that activated his duel coat and made a big batwing enfold from the gauntlet. The spaces between the bone-like structures of the wing had small squares on it, which were supposed to be used as monster zones. The spell and trap zones were on the narrow side of the wing.
This thing looked really frightening to Toni but Alan didn’t even seem to care.
“Fine...whatever...”, Alan said, took his deck from the deckbox at his belt and inserted it into the deck-holder of his disc.
The two duellists stared at each other and narrowed their eyes, well...Alan did...Titans eyes were still covered by his mask, but it was very likely that he did, too.
“Duel!!”

Preview: The duel between Alan and Titan starts. Titan seems to have the advantage in using his Archfiend deck to prevent Alans targetting effekts. Additionally the fieldspell Pandemonium keeps him from paying LP for his Archfiends.
Every thing seemed to be over when Skull Archfiend of Lightning is summoned, but...

So be there and stay tuned^^

anyway, let's go on:

Chapter 11: The duellist of the dark world

Toni couldn’t even breath. The tension in this room and the terrible dark aura that was all over this place made her shivering, what had she been struggling into here?
She had just been coming here to have some fun, maybe find some interesting things, but not for this.
At first everything went quite well, they wandered through the forest, were having a good time, but then they found this blood-signs, which were apparently written with the blood of the girl Judai called “Asuka”. The girl that was now all tied up in the black open coffin, some already dried blood was visible on her finger.
After her journey through the dark dark forest, they came to the witches house, the abandoned dorm. And the witch, whose role was apparently played by a big bad wardrobe called Titan, was now ready to eat them in whole.
The only thing that stood between the kid-eating witch and them was a stupid cold idiot called Alan. A guy whom she never had seen duelling at all, would be fighting for all their lives. What was going on here? Why was she not lying in her own bed sleeping deeply, just waiting for the next school day?
Or maybe she was? Maybe this was just a dream.
The dirty-blonde girl slapped her cheek and tried to wake up, but nothing happened...like she had expected.
>Nice try, girlie...<, her inner voice said sarcastically.
Of course it wasn’t a dream, a dream wouldn’t be that weird, and the only thing she could do now was believe in this cold idiot and support him. She sighed.
The two duellist drew their starting hand and started the duel.

Titan: 4000
Alan: 4000

The first turn came to Alan.
He drew his card, bringing the total number to six. “I’ll start by playing a monster facedown and setting a card.”, he declared and slammed two cards from his hand into his disc then he ended his turn.
“That all you got? My turn!!”, Titan said with a superior tone and drew his card.
“I first activate Terraforming (Terraforming: Spell/ Add one field-spell card form your deck to your hand, then shuffle your deck.). I choose the field-spell: Pandemonium, the lair of the demons (Spell/Field/ Neither player has to pay Life Points during the Standby Phase for Archfiend monsters. Each time a player's Archfiend Monster Card(s) are destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, except as a result of battle, that player can select 1 Archfiend Monster Card from his/her Deck that has a lower Level than the destroyed card and add it to his/her hand.)!!”
The shadow duellist took his deck form the disc and selected one card from it, then he shuffled his deck and placed it back in the disc. “As you can imagine, I will now activate this spell. Rise my sanctuary!!”
He inserted the card into a slit directly above his graveyard, that was apparently his field-spell zone. The surroundings changed as quick as Toni could blink. In the one second the two duellists stood in the rotten arena of the dorm, in the next second they stood in a terrible vision of hell. The pandemonium was basically a big room with a fire pit in the middle and thousands of black metallic spikes and scary objects everywhere.
Toni had never seen this card before, and now she thought that this maybe wasn’t bad.
“An Archfiend deck?”, Yuki said silently and took a deep breath.
>Archfiend...that can not be good...<, Toni thought, she never saw an Archfiend before, but even “normal” fiends were scary.
Titan however was far from finishing his turn.
“I will now summon Shadowknight Archfiend (Wind/Fiend/2000/1600/The controller of this card pays 900 Life Points during each of his/her Standby Phases (this is not optional). When this card is targeted by the effect of a card controlled by your opponent, when resolving the effect, roll a six-sided die. If the result is 3, negate the effect and destroy the opponent's card. The Battle Damage this card inflicts to your opponent is halved.) in attack position!!”
A terrible monster arose from the field, it wore a black armor with red parts on it. He was holding a big two-edged red sword. “Now attack his pathetic monster my archfiend!!
Alan looked at the approaching demon without the slightest emotion.
Shadowknight raised his swords and attacked the monster.
As the card flipped up a big ball-like thing appeared in front of Alan, but it wasn’t a ball, it had small hairs all over and you were able to look through its outer hull. On the inside a pink liquid was moving slightly.
Toni was disgusted. She knew that she had seen this card before, but couldn’t remember when. It somehow resembled a virus or a bacterium. As she was still thinking of the occasion she had seen this card before, it was cut like the cards hologram and exploded into a violet smoke.
“Ha! Your monster is toast...what a weakling.”
“Yeah...you destroyed it ... just what I wanted!! This monster was Giant Germ (Dark/Fiend/1000/100/ When this monster is destroyed as a result of battle do 500 points of damage to your opponent. Additionally you can take all monsters of the same name from your deck and special summon them to the field in face-up attack postion.)
and now its effect activates, you will receive 500 damage, and I can special summon two more germs to the field. Germs spread very fast, didn’t you know?”

Titan: 3500

While speaking Alan took the two remaining Giant Germs from his deck and put them on his duel disc in attack position. Now two pink and brown balls were floating in front of Alan.
“Damn brat...these monsters won’t help you, I set this card and end my turn!!”, Titan shouted and slammed a card in his disc.
“You frightened already?”, Alan asked and showed a scary smile. “You don’t really think that you can beat me with these pathetic Archfiends, right? You don’t know anything about the true nature of demons.”
Titan clenched his fists and grumbled angry. “I’ll crush you!!”, he shouted.
“We’ll see ‘bout that. Draw!!”
Alan looked at his cards and thought of a good strategy, the Archfiend had quite a high ATK for a Lv4 monster, but offence was not everything. He pressed a button at his disc and opened his face-down card. It showed the image of a game controller with demonic horns.
“I activate Enemy Controller (Spell/quick-play/ Choose and activate one of the following effects. 1) change the battle position of one of your opponents monsters, 2) offer one monster on your field as a tribute to take control of one of your opponents monsters until the end phase.)
“I have seen this card before, too. I am sure of it”, Toni whispered.
“Right, both of this cards were used by Seto Kaiba in the Battle City tournament.”, Ben said silently, while looking at his PDA.
“Thanks to my card I can change the position of your monster to defence!”, Alan said as the controller from the picture appeared and aimed his cord at Shadowknight Archfiend.
But suddenly the cord stopped in mid air and Titan chuckled.
“I can now activate the effect of my Archfiend”, he said smiling.
Six balls numbered from one to six appeared from the fire pit in the middle of the pandemonium. “Thus, the roulette of destiny shall begin. Listen, from this six balls one will be selected randomly and if it is a 3 your effect is negated and your card is destroyed.”
“I know this, you are just wasting my time...”, Alan answered and crossed his arms in front of his chest.
The balls arranged in a floating circle next to the shadow duellist and suddenly the 1 ball was burning and then the fire went over to ball 2 and further, it was really a roulette.
“So he can negate any effect with this roulette?”, Toni asked Ben, who was opening a data in his PDA, named “Archfiends”.
“No, it seems that this effect only works for targeting effects, and you need quite much luck to succeed.”, Ben said and shrugged. “Furthermore it seems that all Archfiends have this effect.”
The roulette went on and then stopped, directly on the ball with the 3, thus Enemy Controller was negated and exploded.
“You see? Such foolish cards aren’t working on me”
Alan grit his teeth and took another card from his hand. His first strategy was crushed, but he seemed to have reckoned with this. “Alright, you were lucky this time, but...I have someone who will roast your monster. I hope you are prepared to meet the ruler of the fiends. I offer one of my Germs as a tribute to summon Dark Ruler Hades (Dark/ Fiend/6/2450/1600/ As long as this card is face-up on the field negate the effect of monsters destroyed by your fiend-type monsters as a result of battle. Neither player can special summon this card from the graveyard.) in attack position!!”
The newly summoned monster was really imposing, he was twice as big as Alan and wore a black and red robe with many golden ornaments on it, the chest was covered by a big skull face.
His skin was green and he had a demonically smile on his face, in his hand he held a wineglass filled with blood.
It really was the perfect image of the Greek god of the underworld, who damned the souls of the dead.
“So it really is a fiend-deck... wasn’t sure at first, but with this monster it can only be that”, Yuki said and had a smile on his face. He was surely impressed by Alan strategy, it would be great to duel him sometime. Also he understood that Alan mainly used Enemy Controller to test his opponents luck in the roulette.
“So, Alan and this guy are playing the same deck?”, Toni asked unsure.
“Nah...there’s big difference between Fiend and Archfiend...”, Ben answered while opening his file on Hades.
“And what would that be? Both are looking so gross...”
“Just look, you will see.”, Yuki said and turned to the duel again.
Titan grit his teeth, his face under the mask was showing pure hate. “This pitiful monster will help you nothing...I will crush it and you!!”
“You dare to insult the king of darkness? And still you call yourself a shadow duellist...pathetic. Hades fry his Archfiend!!”
The impressive demon raised the hand without the glass and fired a beam of concentrated darkness at the Shadowknight, but once again the attack was negated as Shadowknight suddenly got a arm-shield that absorbed the whole attack.
Titan smirked: “I activate Draining Shield (Trap/Normal/Negate the attack of one of your opponents monsters, then increase your LP by the attack points on this monster.), thanks to it I will now get 2450 LP and your attack is negated.

Titan: 5950

Alan stayed calm, switched his Giant Germ to defence position and ended his turn.
Toni watched him, and started to worry, Alan had no face-downs for protection and his LP were far below these of his opponent. Could he really win? He seemed to be sure of it, but the shadow duellist surely wasn’t someone to be taken lightly.
Meanwhile Titan had already drawn his card and smiled under his mask.
“Thanks to Pandemonium I won’t have to pay LP for my Archfiend.”, he said and added his drawn card to his hand.
Alan glared at him annoyed: “...can’t stop boring me, right?”
“If you want it, kid, then have it!! I activate the equip-spell Falling Down (Spell/Equip/ Destroy this card if there is no Archfiend card on your side of the field. Take control of 1 of your opponent's monsters that is equipped with this card. You take 800 points of damage during each of your opponent's Standby Phases.) and equip it to your Dark Ruler. That gives me the control of him.” He laughed evilly.
The boy watched unmoved how the little demon monster that was displayed on the card grabbed his Hades and pulled him over to Titan’ s field.
“Ha...and now I will offer your useless monster to summon Skull Archfiend of Lightning
(Dark/Fiend/6/2500/1200/ The controller of this card pays 500 Life Points during each of his/her Standby Phases (this is not optional). When this card is targeted by the effect of a card controlled by your opponent, when resolving the effect, roll a six-sided die. If the result is 1, 3, or 6, negate the effect and destroy the opponent's card.)
A strong lightning struck the field as Hades was destroyed and a monster appeared that almost looked like Mutou Yugis Summoned Skull, which Toni knew from Battle City and Duellist Kingdom, but it had a different color plus, it was an effect monster.
“Now, my Shadowknight attack his Germ!!”, Titan ordered and pointed towards the floating germ.
The black armored fiend cut the last germ in halve, but activated its effect again. So another 500 damage were dealt to Titan directly.

Titan: 5450

He growled as his LP decreased from the explosion, but then he smiled evilly again. “Without any monster out, my Archfiend of Lightning will attack you directly! Die!!”
Another extremely strong lightning came from above and hit Alan directly, he grit his teeth and fell to one knee. The pain was much stronger then the simulated pain in a normal duel, but still he was sure that he had felt it before. He pulled himself up again.

Alan: 1500

“Now you will suffer the real pain of the shadow duel!!”, Titan exclaimed and took something glowing from his pocket. It was a golden pyramid, that Alan had seen on the slate before. The Millennium Puzzle.
The boy gasped for air. The vision of his master with the glowing object appeared in his mind again and he felt his head almost exploding. >Who is this guy? Why is he in possession of this item.<
The eye at the front of the puzzle glowed and a blinding bright light flashed over Alan and made him invisible for one second. Then the light died again and both duellists stood there. Something was different, but at first Toni didn’t see what. As she finally began to understand what had happened her mouth got dry and her eyes turned wide. The others had a similar expression on them.
Some parts of Alan’s body had vanished. Only the foot was left from his right leg and the left arm with the duel disc on it disappeared up to the hand, the disc seemed to fly in mid air.
“Alan!!”, Toni shouted in fear for him, but even more for herself. This was supernatural, she had heard of the real shadow games and that the opponents put there life on stake in them, but they were considered legends, and now this was real...no way.
Alan looked at his body and raised one eyebrow. “So my body will go in the same amount as my LP, right?” “Exactly...I hope you are prepared to die!!”
The blonde boy slit one hair-strain out of his face and looked at his opponent with such a diabolic smile that even Titan was startled for a second. A shiver went through his body, that hadn’t happened for decades. Who was this boy?
“Nice idea...I really like it...” Alan licked his upper lip and drew his card with his face returning to normal, he would later not even be able to remember this seconds.
Looking at the card and his remaining hand he smirked.
“From now on you got three turns...and after these have passed your finished!!”, he declared and activated...

Chapter 12: The duellist of the dark world part two

Rick Misamoto was lying on his bed awake and starred at the ceiling. Somehow he wasn’t able to get any sleep. He had a terrible feeling in his stomach, it was surely the aura of very strong duellist. Well, he had come here to find strong duellists but this guy was not just good he had a scary strong aura. He had thought of searching for the source of this aura, and decided against it.
A guy like this wouldn’t be able to hide his strength for long.

In the abandoned dorm the small group of students were still locked inside Titans pandemonium. It was now Alan’s turn, he had nothing on his field and five cards in his hand.

Alan: 1500
Titan: 5450

“I will start this turn by summoning Zure, Knight of the Dark World (Dark/Fiend/4/1800/1500) in a.p.” A fiendish knight appeared from the card. He wore a black and silver armor and carried a big one-edged blade in his hand. Somehow he seemed noble, despite of his terrible appearance.
“Ha, another weak card, what can you do with him?”
“...fool. I activate my spell: Swords of Concealing Light (Spell/Continous/ When this card is activated change all monster on your opponents field to face-down defence position. This positions cannot be changed as long as this card remains on the field. During your third Standby Phase destroy this card.)
“What...?”, Titan asked as Alan slammed the card into his duel disc. The holographic image of the card showed a bizarre opposite of Swords of Revealing Light. Instead of swords made from light it had swords of darkness on it. Additionally a grinning skull was visible in the background. As the swords fell from the ceiling they hit Titans monsters and turned them into two face-down monster-cards.
“Now that my swords are on the field those two monsters will be useless for three turns. I’ll attack your face-down Lightning-Archfiend now!!”
Zure approached the card and cut it in halve with his sword, destroying the monster and then he went back slowly. Titan growled as his strongest monster was killed that easily.
“You understand now? Your Archfiends are nothing...!! I’ll set two cards additionally and end my turn.” Two cards materialised in front if his feet and he crossed his arms in front of his chest again.
Titan drew his card and smiled. “I’ll offer my facedown Archfiend as a tribute to summon Archfiend of Gilfer (Dark/Fiend/6/2200/2500/ When this monster is send to the graveyard you can treat it as an equipment spell-card and equip it to one of your opponents monsters. This monsters ATK is decreased by 500.) in attack position. Now I’ll attack your Zure with it.”
Gilfer was a big humanoid demon with devil-like wings on his back and long claws at his fingers. His whole body was covered by a thin brown and red armor. As he was approaching the fiendish knight he clenched his fist and aimed it at Zure’s body. But he suddenly was repulsed and shred into a thousand pieces.
“What?!!”, Titan shouted angrily.
Zure stood there calmly, and now you could see that his armor had changed. It was now in a glowing grey and had a strong dark aura around him.
“My trap-card Sakuretsu Armor destroys any monster that attacks me...”, Alan said and pointed to the now face up card on his field, it showed the picture of a demon-like warrior walking through the lines of the adversary like a bulldozer, his path was filled by countless corpses.
But then suddenly a hand, that apparently belonged to Gilfer, appeared from the ground like it was coming directly from the graveyard and grabbed Zure’s leg. His ATK gradually decreased to 1300.
“Since my Gilfer was send to the grave he will decrease the ATK of one your monster by 500. And thanks to Pandemonium I can now select a Archfiend from my deck with a lower level then my Gilfer. I choose Terrorking Archfiend. (Dark/Fiend/2000/1500/ This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Flip Summoned unless you have an Archfiend Monster Card on your side of the field. The controller of this card pays 800 Life Points during each of his/her Standby Phases (this is not optional). When this card is targeted by the effect of a card controlled by your opponent, when resolving the effect, roll a six-sided die. If the result is 2 or 5, negate the effect and destroy the opponent's card. The effects of an Effect Monster that this card destroyed as a result of battle are negated.).
“Amazing...”, Alan replied absolutely unimpressed.
Titan picked two cards from his hand and set them to the field to end his turn.
Both duellists now had only one hand-card left but the LP advantage was surely on Titans’ s side.
Meanwhile Alan drew a card from his deck bringing the total of his hand to two.
“Alright, Zure attack him directly!!”, he declared without playing anything else.
“Not so fast! I activate Mirror Force!!(Trap/Normal/ This card can only be activated when your opponent attacks, destroy all monsters in attack position on your opponents field.)
Zure’s attack was blocked by a mirror shield and he was destroyed by his own reflected attack.
“Pff... a pathetic defence, hiding behind a mirror...anyway I end my turn then.”
Titan drew his card and looked at it “I will set this monster in a facedown defence, that’s it for now.” He had only one hand card again and one facedown on the field.
“You know what?”, Alan said as he drew his card.
“What?”
“I said you had three turns...remember it? Well, that was two turns ago, the next turn will be your last!!”, he declared confidently and continued: “I will just set another card and end my turn, enjoy your last draw!!” he said and smiled at the two cards in his hand. He could have used one of them now, but he didn’t want to, he didn’t have to.
“Pah, you will never beat me, let alone in one turn...wahaha!!”, the shadow duellist laughed maniacally as he drew his second card and smiled even more. “I activate Pot of Greed (Spell/Normal/Draw two cards from your deck), thus I can draw two more cards!!”
He took the two cards and added them to his hand. With one of them he would easily win this duel by getting an extreme advantage. But he wouldn’t even need this card if his other strategy would pay off.
“I will now activate my facedown: Archfiend’ s Roar (Trap/Normal/ Pay 500 Life Points to activate this card. Special Summon 1 Archfiend Monster Card from your Graveyard. This monster cannot be tributed under any conditions and is destroyed during the End Phase of this turn.), thanks to it will now special summon my Skull Archfiend of Lightning!!”

Titan : 4450

The Thunder Archfiend arose from the grave again and screamed terrible.
“And since I now have one Archfiend on my side of the field I can summon my Terrorking Archfiend (Dark/Fiend/2000/1500/ This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Flip Summoned unless you have an Archfiend Monster Card on your side of the field. Don’t cry yet I am not done, I will additionally flip my facedown monster to attack. Rise my Infernal Queen Archfiend(Fire/Fiend/4/900/1500/ The controller of this card pays 500 Life Points during each of his/her Standby Phases (this is not optional). When this card is targeted by the effect of a card controlled by your opponent, when resolving the effect, roll a six-sided die. If the result is 2 or 5, negate the effect and destroy the opponent's card. As long as this card remains on the field, during each Standby Phase, increase the ATK of 1 Archfiend Monster Card by 1000 points until the End Phase.)
“Crap...”, Toni exclaimed loudly as she saw that Alan was facing against monsters with a combined strength of 5400. And he had no monster to protect him, still he looked absolutely calm. He really could be a bit worried by now.
“Now my Skull Archfiend attack him directly!!”, Titan shouted and the Archfiend collected the power of lightning and started a devastating attack at Alan...

Cliffhanger^^
Preview: Will Alan be able to survive this heavy attack or will the group already lose their souls to the darkness? The answer will be given next time, so stay tuned!

Wow. Also was ich bisher gelesen habe (was leider erst deine ersten beiden Beiträge sind) gefält mir wirklich sehr.

well, here's the next part, hope you like it:

Chapter 13: The duellist of the dark world, part three

Asuka Tenjoin didn’t know where she was. Everything around her was dark. A terrible coldness made her body feel like frozen. What was going on? Had she been sucked into the same trap that her brother fell for? Would she now see him again?
All that she could remember was the entrance hall of the abandoned dorm and a big hand pressing something on her mouth, a handkerchief with chloroform most likely, then everything turned black.
But wait, there were some very silent voices in her surrounding areas, someone was here.
The person who took her here maybe, or someone else. Maybe even Fubuki?
She forced her eyes open with all her remaining strength, and saw a very unexpected picture.
Apparently she was lying somewhere in a big room that looked like ...well...like hell actually. Everywhere there were black spikes and metallic objects that looked very sharp and a fire pit was burning in the middle of the room.
At first she really thought that she had died and gone to hell, but she felt much to bad to be dead. Her arms and legs were tied by an old rough rope, that cut in her skin.
She looked as far to the right as she could, and gasped for air. A really big demon stood right in front of her, she could only see it’s back, but that was more then enough to make her heart skip a beat.
It took her a few seconds of terror to realise that this thing wasn’t the devil himself. It just was a holographic projection of a card, like all the surroundings. Someone was duelling at this place. Asuka tried to make out the duellists. The one in front of her was a tall dark man, whom she didn’t know. The other person was a blonde guy with a black muscle shirt and an Osiris jacket around his waist. She remembered him from the lighthouse.
>Alan Riley...what is he doing here?<

“You are toast, boy!!!”, Titan shouted as his strongest Archfiend started his attack at Alan.
The strong lightning crushed down from the ceiling, aiming directly at the blonde boys head.
Toni closed her eyes, she could no longer look at this, with this attack Alan would be gone and with him, they all would disappear in the shadows.
“Hey, Toni look at this!!”, Ben suddenly exclaimed.
“What, has he died already?”, she asked depressed and felt an incredible fear.
“No, look for yourself!!”
Toni opened one eye slowly and then turned both eyes wide. The lightning attack of Skull Archfiend was stuck in the air directly above Alan. The boy smirked.
“I think this went far enough now. I now know what I wanted to know, you are not a shadow duellist and this yami no duel you were pretending to play is nothing more then fake.”
“Baka, what is up with your body then?!!”, Toni shouted from the sideline.
“An illusion, most likely he is using a device inside this fake Millenium item to install a hologram with the projector of his duel disc.”, he reached for his apparently disappeared leg and slid his hand into the invisible pocket.
Titan looked like he was about to explode. He never had someone that sharp as an opponent, how could this damn lad look through his ultimate illusion, this could destroy all the myths and legends he had build up in years of hard work. His whole reputation would be gone. There was only one way to keep his secret.
“You are smarter then you look, brat. Alright enough with the fun. I was paid to break Yuki Judai’s spirit, no more no less. But since you revealed my secret, I will have to change my plan.” He opened the buttons of his coat and slid one hand inside, when it came out again, he was holding a gun. Nine-millimetre with a silencer on it.
“The knew rule is: If you lose, you all are going to die here, no “offering to shadows” or something, just a real bullet.”, he showed another demonic smile.
Toni turned pale as snow. >Oh god this is so... so unfair, what did I do to deserve this? Oh if I survive, Alan will be in reeeally deep trouble!!< Funnily it was this anger that kept her from breaking down completely.
Judai seemed not to be frightened, apparently he believed in Alan. But the others were absolutely freaking out. The three boys were hugging each other in fear and cried.
“So the only thing I have to do is win, right? Then I won’t have any problem?”, Alan asked as calm as before.
“Exactly...”
“Fine with me then.”, he said confidently with a cold expression.
“You rotten idiot, I’ll pound ya for that!!”, Toni shouted in despair and almost stormed at Alan to make her words real, but Yuki grabbed her shoulder and held her back.
“Stop this, he will win, I am sure of it. Just have faith in him.”, he said silently with no sign of fear in his face.
“Have faith in him? He is playing with our lives!!”
“No, he is protecting us. What do you think this Titan would do with us if Alan would except his defeat? You really think he will let us go now?”, Yuki whispered.
Toni began to understand, she realised what Alan wanted to do. He was using the only possible way to rescue all their lives: Destroying Titans self-confidence and breaking his spirit like he wanted to do with Yuki. He first provoked him, so he would let his guard down, lose his cold attitude and as a result Titan made one failure after the next and now he would fall for Alan’s trap.
Yuki seemed to have understood this from the beginning, that was really amazing.
The dirty-blonde girl took a deep breath and nodded, her anger was gone, not the fear, but she would know believe in this cold idiot, he just had to win.
>I am counting on you, so better not dare to lose.<
Alan glanced at her for the blink of a second and it almost seemed that he nodded a bit, but then he turned to the duel again.
“Well...aren’t we forgetting about something?”, Titan asked chuckling and pointed to the frozen lightning attack of Skull Archfiend. “My attack has already started, so you are going to receive 2500 points of damage!!”
“Ha...you didn’t really think that would work right? I told ya that these pathetic Archfiends would be meaningless.” He pressed a button at his disc: “I activate Unholy Barrier, Dark Mirror Force (Trap/Normal/You can only activate this card when your opponent declares an attack. Destroy and remove from game all monsters on your opponents side of the field in defense position.), now all your defense position monsters are removed from game!!”
His trap flipped up and showed a black mirror reflecting an attack, similar to the original Mirror Force, that Titan used only a few turns before.
Titan frowned and then laughed. “I don’t have any defence position monsters out, so your card is useless, you lost!!”
“Not really, because I will start a chain with my other facedown.” He pressed another button and thus his second card opened. It had the image of an Anubis – statue sitting on top of a chest on. “This is Curse of Anubis(Trap/Normal/Change all face up effect monsters on the field to defence position. During the turn this card is activated decrease the DEF of all defence position cards to 0, and their positions cannot be changed.), thanks to this combo, first my Anubis-card will change all your Archfiends to defence position, then my Dark Mirror Force will activate and remove all of them from the game!!”
Titan’s face turned pale as all of his cards were removed, even the effect of his Pandemonium could not be activated when the monsters aren’t send to the graveyard.
He only had two cards in his hand, and they both couldn’t help him in blocking an attack, well... one was Archfiend Soldier (Dark/Fiend/4/1900/1500), but he already normal summoned the Terrorking, thus he had to wait until next turn to play it.
But the brat had only two cards left himself, with his other card he could at least keep his chances to block an attack from his Soldier down.
“Pah you will still lose, next turn. In my Main Phase 2, I will activate Delinquent Duo (Spell/Normal/Pay 1000 Life points. Select one card from your opponents hand at random and discard it. Then your opponent has to select a card from his hand and discard it.)

Titan: 3450

“Normally it would be a matter of luck, if I get to discard a good card from your hand, but since you only have two cards, your hand is completely destroyed.”
“...as if this would help ya.”, Alan slid his two handcards to the grave, without showing them. He wouldn’t have to play this cards anyway.
“Now I will end my turn!!”, he declared successfully.
Alan drew his card gritted his teeth, this card was everything he had, but it was absolutely enough to win.
“Your last turn was a disappointment, your Delinquent duo was as meaningless as that gun of yours is. You fear that I might beat you, so you tried to destroy my chances by this card. It was ridiculous and won’t work.” He took the Swords of Concealing Light card from his disc and put it into his graveyard. “This card was bound with your life. Now after it is destroyed your life ends.”
“Pah...you can never defeat me with only one card.”
“Think again, then!! I activate Graceful Charity (Spell/Normal/ Draw three cards from your deck, then discard two cards from your hand to the graveyard.)”
The hologram showed a card with a picture of a beautiful young angel with a halo above her head.
He took three cards from his deck and his eyes fixed on two of the them. He took these two and put them into the graveyard. The result was devastating.
Thousands of violet lightning struck down from the ceiling and hit the ground everywhere.
Titan looked absolutely startled. “What have you done?!!”, he demanded to know.
Suddenly two large shadows arose behind Alan and formed something.
“What is this?”, asked Toni and watched as the two shadows began to turn clearer.
“Can only guess...”, Yuki replied.
Alan crossed his arms and showed a terrorising smile.
“These are two of my close friends”, both monsters were now flanking Alan right and left, they were both as big as Hades had been, but other then this they were looking completely different. Both had quite a similarity to Zure, but they were much bigger and wore prettier armor. One had a silver armor, and the other a golden one.
“Welcome Sillva, Warlord of the Dark World (Dark/Fiend/5/2300/1400/When this card is send directly from your hand to the graveyard by a card-effect, special summon this card to the field. When this card is send directly from your hand to the graveyard by an opponent’s card-effect, your opponent selects two cards from his hand and put them at the bottom of his deck in any order desired.) and Goldd, WU-lord of the Dark World (Dark/Fiend/5/2300/1400/When this card is send directly from your hand to the graveyard by a card-effect, special summon this card to the field. When this card is send directly from your hand to the graveyard by an opponent’s card-effect, select and destroy two card on your opponents side of the field.).”
“Two Lv5 monsters at once? You didn’t play any reborn card, you are cheating!!”, Titan shouted and grit his teeth.
“Ha, I am not on your level, I don’t need to cheat to win. You see when my two fiends are send from my hand to the grave by a card-effect, like Graceful Charity for example, they are special summoned.”
“No...!!!”, Titan screamed.
“As I said, it is over. Goldd and Sillva attack this fool directly!!”
The demon in the gold armor slashed his long swords horizontal through Titan’s body, making him scream in pain.

Titan: 1150

“I cannot lose!!” Titan cried as Sillva approached him, he dropped his weapon, turned around and started to run, but he came only a few meters. Then an invisible barrier blocked his path and made him stop.
“Wha...?”, Titan gasped and pounded his fist against this wall.
Suddenly a voice howled through the room, a voice so terrible that everyone was shaken by fear, even Alan.
“NO ONE RUNS AWAY FROM A SHADOW DUEL, YOU WILL END THE GAME NOW!!!”, said the voice and a large Millenium eye appeared in the middle of the arena.
Something like a black smoke arose from the floor and closed around the two duellists.
“What is this? Another illusion? This will not work!!”, Alan said, but even his two demons were frozen in fear, that was just impossible.
“I didn’t do anything!!”, Titan shouted and looked around in fear, he finally showed his true character, the character of a pathetic coward that feared the darkness.
“Lemme out!!”, he screamed in despair and waved his fists against the invisible wall around him.
“What is going on?”, asked Toni as she saw the bizarre scene of Titan running against...actually nothing, he was looking a bit like a pantomime. A shaken in fear pantomime that is.
“Don’t know, but...this is no trick, you could do with a simple hologram.”, Yuki said and felt like he had a precognition. This voice where did it come from? There weren’t any speakers somewhere, as far as he could see.
“Whatever it is, Alan has won the duel, so we can go, right?”, Toni whispered, afraid to hear the terrible voice again.
“The duel’s not yet over, Alan’s monster still has to attack.”

Chapter 14: The duellist of the Dark World, final.

Asuka watched the duel quite surprised, this Alan was really good, his combos were amazing. But even more surprising was, what was going on right know. All her attempts to free herself from the rope had failed, thus she could only watch, but then there was this sudden voice and this barrier that kept the dark guy from running away.
It really looked like...no...impossible.
As every duellist of the Academy she had heard of the shadow games in duel-history class. But they were said to be just legends, because the king of games had to fight duels that were far beyond imagination, these duels were called the “shadow games”, there actually was no magic in it. At least that was what Asuka had thought up until now.
What if the shadow games were actually battles with real magic? There are much more thing on this world that you cannot explain.
At first Asuka was absolutely sure this duel was fake, as Alan said it could all be done by a manipulation of the holograms and an increasing of the artificial pain. But now...this creepy glowing eye on the ground and this voice...plus Titans scared face, this just couldn’t be done by a simple trick.
Maybe this was a real shadow game after all.

“Oh crap what have we been running into?”
“I want home!!”
“I want a grilled cheese sandwich!!”
The three boys were still sitting on the ground behind Toni and Yuki and trembled while hugging each other. Toni got really annoyed by their foolish behaviour, surely she was scared too, but they could at least try to show a bit manly pride.
“Come on guys!! Get up already!!”, she shouted and slapped the back of Ben’s head.
“Waah!!”, Ben shouted and looked up frightened, obviously he didn’t even notice what was going on around him. He was pale as a corpse.
“Oh...damn could you pull together already? This guy’s busy right now, we can free the girl and get out!!”
“Get out?”, the three exclaimed with shining eyes and stood quicker then Toni could blink.
>...men...a big mouth, talking about exploring the abandoned dorm would be fun, and then they cannot get out fast enough...pitiful...<, the girl thought.
Together with Yuki she pulled the three cowards around the Arena where Alan was still standing.
It took them only a few seconds to reach the black coffin with the girl inside. She at first didn’t even notice the five people approaching, she seemed to be absolutely consumed by the events in the arena.
“Asuka?” Yuki asked and snapped in front of her eyes.
She blinked like she had woken up from a nightmare and turned towards the dual-brown-haired boy. “Judai? What are you doing here?”
“Same as you I suppose...”, he answered and took a small folding knife from his pocket, just as he started to cut the rope the terrorising voice spoke again.

“IF YOU CAN NOT END THIS DUEL, I WILL!!”
The barrier around the two duellists turned pitch black, no light could penetrate through, only the golden shine of the Millennium Eye on the ground made it possible to see something.
Titan still stood directly at the barrier and slammed against it with his already bloody fists, he was scared out of his mind.
“I want out!! Lemme out!!”, he cried and sank to his knees.
Alan hold his head with his hands and groaned in pain. This voice somehow caused the mental barrier that kept him from remembering his past to crack, but this was combined with an agony he couldn’t stand. “Stop it!!”, he screamed and looked to the ground, which was moving apparently. His eyes widened as he recognised that it actually wasn’t the ground that was moving, it were hundred, if not thousands of little black monsters, shaped like slimy balls. They had red glowing eyes, which starred at Alan with a vicious look.
“Wha...what is goin’ on here?”, he demanded to know and gasped as the little beings answered him by crouching in his direction quickly. The first one had already reached his shoe as he jumped back, but was stopped by the barrier. “Sh*t!!”
The screams of his opponent made him look up again. Apparently this little things were attacking him to, but, he wasn’t fast enough to run away and the monsters already covered his body making him scream even more. It almost seemed like he was eaten by them.
Alan grit his teeth and kicked one of them away, but that was pointless, it were far too much to fight them.
The vicious eyes showed a demonic smile as the monsters covered his feet and crawled up his body. “Damn...go away already...I cannot die here!!”, he shouted.
Suddenly a black light was coming from his duel disk, it was cold and deadly, yet Alan felt much better when he saw it, it felt so familiar. A dead silence covered the room as a shadow arose next to Alan. It had glowing white eyes and an absolutely cold expression, it was nearly as big as Alan.
“You!! You are...!!”, Alan gasped as he recognised the monster.
The shadowy creature gazed upon him with no visible emotion and he starred back speechless, then the it looked down to the little slime-balls, which were still crawling up Alan’s body. They suddenly froze in movement as they saw the creature behind Alan.
Squeaking like a frightened puppy they dropped to the floor immediately and crawled to safe distance.
Alan looked at the familiar being next to him and couldn’t really get what was happening. He recently discovered that this shadow game was just a fake, but he wasn’t sure anymore.
A mad laughter behind his back made him turn around and gasp again.
“What are you...?”
The shadow duellist stood at the other side of the barrier and smiled diabolically, his eyes were glowing in an intense red color.
It was much to fast for him to recover, and the small monsters around him were gone, as he spoke now, his voice was the same as the one that howled through the room before.
“THE DUEL WILL GO ON NOW!!”, he declared.
With the end of his sentence the previously disappeared monsters Goldd and Sillva returned to the field. But Sillva’s attack was apparently not concluded, so Titan still had some LP left.
Alan didn’t really know what to do, but it seemed to be obvious that this guy wasn’t Titan anymore. He was possessed by something.
It was not that Alan cared what happened to this bastard, but he still had to win this game, since it wasn’t clear what the possessed Titan would do after a victory.
“Alright then!! I set my last card and end my turn.”, Alan said and slid the card into his disc.

Titan: 1150
Alan: 1500

Titan drew his card, bringing the total to two.
“I WILL SUMMON ARCHFIEND SOLDIER (Dark/Fiend/4/1900/1500) IN ATTACK POSITION!! COME FORTH MY SOLDIER!!”
He/It placed the card on his duel disc and made a hologram materialise. The monster was wearing a yellowish armor and hold a broad sword. He seemed to be quite strong, but still he was a normal monster, and his ATK was far below the ones of Goldd or Sillva, what was he doing?
”AND NOW I ACTIVATE THE EQUIP SPELL “Axe of Despair, Demon Axe(Spell/Equip/ increase the equipped monsters ATK by 1000. When this card is destroyed and send to the graveyard you can offer one monster on your field to return this card to the top of your deck.)
The ATK of Archfiend Soldier was raised to 2900 as he got a big sharp axe in his hand. It seemed to be made of a demon-skull.
“2900 ATK?...impressive.”, Alan said returning to his unmoved duelling style.
“NOW KILL HIS GOLDD MY SOLDIER!!!”
The Archfiend jumped up and swung his big axe at Goldd’s head, but he stopped the second, that his axe touched the target.
“WHAT IS THIS???” , the person formally known as Titan shouted.
“You know, even if you send my Dark Ruler Hades to the graveyard his spirit was never broken and is still alive on this field. And thus I will activate “Bark of the Dark Ruler!!!”(You can only activate this card in your opponent’s turn during the damage step, when a Fiend-type monster is in battle. Pay Life Points (in steps of 100) to decrease the attack of the attacking monster by the same amount.)
“With this I can now sacrifice my LP to decrease your monsters ATK. And I sacrifice 1400 LP!!”
As the LP counter on Alan’s disc gradually decreased to 100 LP a spirit form of the Dark Ruler appeared directly behind his Goldd. Alan’s Body almost disappeared completely only his head remained and he felt like his whole energy was drained. It was completely different from before.
The Hades-spirit opened his mouth and screamed a deep terrorising bark. Archfiend Soldier was hit by the sound-wave and was forced back. His ATK decreased to 1500.
“And now, Goldd, return his attack!!”, Alan shouted as Goldd arose his sword and cut the weakened Archfiend vertically in halve.
“WHAT...?”, the Titan being asked as his LP decreased.

Titan: 350
Alan: 100

“It is over now, you don’t have any hand and nothing on the field, my next attack will crush you!!”, Alan declared and drew his card.
“Now Sillva end this game!!”
The silver-armored monster fittingly called Sillva took his sword form the shed and approached Titan with only two big steps. The glowing silver blade cut through the possessed body and made it fly against the dark barrier.

Titan: 0

“NOOO!!!!”, it screamed in pain as the little monsters appeared again and surrounded the formerly shadow duellist, it took them only seconds to cover him almost completely.
The red glow of his eyes died and he returned to normal. “Help me, please!!”, he cried and raised one hand at Alan. But he just watched the slime balls cover him unmoved. This dirtbag would have killed all of them relentlessly, even the girls...he lost his soul long ago, he didn’t deserve to live on.
“Aaahhh!!”, Titan screamed a last time, then silence returned, as his body was completely consumed by the dark beings.
“Nietzsche said: If you stare into the abyss to long the abyss will stare back at you... you should have stayed away from it in the first place. You use fiends only for your personal desire for money, that is a disgrace. Fiend are not beings that fight for such low targets, you had already lost before you started this duel.” Alan preached and turned away from the scene. The holographs disappeared and his body returned to normal.
>Now to get out of here...<
The dark barrier didn’t disappear apart from the other effects of the shadow game, he touched it and suddenly it moved, no that was not the right word, it actually shrunk.
“Crap...I really am fed up with this!!”, Alan shouted and almost didn’t notice the reappeared shadow next to him. It was the same one, that previously saved him from the slime balls.
“You again...”, he gasped and looked at the absolutely silent creature, as it narrowed his eyes even more then they were before. Two bloody red beams fired from them and hit the barrier in one point.
The dark violet of the shadowy barrier turned to a glowing red in this point. Apparently the creature was burning a hole to get him out and the hole grew bigger very fast, almost as if the beam was melting the barrier.
“That’ll be enough....”. Alan nodded at the shadow and took a headjump through the hole with his arms crossed over his head.

Asuka rubbed her numb arms to get her blood to circulate again. The rope was really much too tight. “Thanks guys.”, she said.
Just the second that Judai wanted to ask her why she had come here, a hole opened in the shadow barrier behind him. A certain person flew out and landed directly ...on Toni...
Both fell to the ground hard. “Aww...what are you doing you...cold idiot!!”, she shouted and crawled away from him. “...couldn’t look through the barrier, could I?”, he said annoyed and pulled himself up. He hit the ground with his head and was feeling a bit dizzy, not to mention the physical and mental strain that the shadow duel brought with itself.
“Still you could have tried to hit someone else...”
Alan rolled his eyes. Maybe being consumed by the shadows wasn't that bad after all.
“Ahem...can you guys maybe get over this after we left this place, it could still be dangerous here...”, Asuka asked in a serious tone and already went towards the door.
“Hmph...”, Toni made and followed her.
The door-lock took them a few minutes, but with joined forces they could break it and then followed the blood sign backwards and could finally reach the entrance.
They had passed through the forest without talking at all. This evening left all of them absolutely tired and done for. Judai didn’t even remember to ask Asuka what she wanted in that dorm.

Preview:
The shadow duel is over, jet the inhabitants of room 19 feel pretty down, so Toni decides that they should take a day off school. While they are exploring the island they meet with a certain person.

so stay tuned for "The Underdog"

nun nachdem der Titel der Kapitel "the duellist of the Dark World" hieß war's logisch, dass Alan eben ein Dark World deck spielt.

Chapter 15: The Underdog, part one

The sun was shining through the window of the Osiris dorm room 19, it was halve past nine already, but no alarm had rung to wake the inhabitants. After the events last night they had decided to take the day off. Well...Toni had decided, Alan didn’t care for the lessons and Ben was too afraid to talk back.
Thus everyone was still asleep. Everyone? Nah, that would boring. One of them had already woken up, or infect he didn’t got much sleep at all.
Ben, the brown-haired small guy was lying on his bed and looking at a certain card from his deck. This was his favourite, because it somehow reassembled himself. His sister had given him this card after she had reached the pro league.
Actually she was only partly his sister, they only shared their mother. After she got divorced from his sister’s father she married Ben’s, but his sister got extremely mad at her for this act and abandoned the family to become a pro duellist. That was now sixteen years ago, and Ben didn’t have much contact to his sister in his younger days.
At least until that day...the day that determined him to become a duellist.
He shook his head to get to the present again, it wasn’t like him to be nostalgic. Looking at it a last time he slid the card into his deck again. It wasn’t the past that worried him at the moment, it was the future. Tomorrow would be the exam and if he would fail he would most likely be expelled, meaning that all his plans would fail.
>I really need help...someone who can improve my deck...<, he thought and sighed silently.
Of course his two roommates were good, especially Alan, but he surely wouldn’t help him...or would he? Toni on the other hand would surely help him...but she was busy with her own deck and he didn’t want to disturb her.
There were other people, Yuki, Marufuji and Hayato for example, but the more he thought about it he wanted only one person to help him. Alan. It wasn’t only his duelling style, it was more the way he behaved in the duel. He was never afraid, never surrendered to the terrible shadow duel, even as his live was threatened he remained cool and didn’t give up.
Ben really wished to be a bit like him.
But how could he make Alan train him? They weren’t friends or something.... at least not now...
He was so in thoughts that he didn’t even notice Toni waking up and yawning loudly. She still seemed to be tired. “Monnin’...”, she mumbled after noticing Ben being awake.
Kicking the blanket away she stood up and stretched her body while rubbing her eyes.
She was wearing another Kuriboh pyjama, this time with the original furball on it.
Ben thought that it was really hard to get used to sharing a room with a girl, especially such a cute one. In his past no girl even noticed him, not to think of speaking with him.
“What a night, huh? I slept like a stone...”, she spoke between two yawns. “I’ll take a shower, you can try to get our icy beauty awake.”
“Me?”, he asked uneasy. Waking someone from a deep sleep wasn’t a good way to start a friendship.
“...you see someone else around?”, Toni replied and entered the bathroom with some cloth in her hands.
Ben gulped and arose from his bed. Alan laid with his face towards the wall his bed was standing at, so he couldn’t see it. Slowly he tapped nearer and reached for his shoulder with one hand, just as the blonde boy turned around with his eyes opened.
“I am awake...she could wake the dead with that yawn of hers.”, he said.
“Yeah right she sure is loud”, Ben answered and smiled bright, maybe he could start a conversation like this. He stood there for two minutes and smiled without any idea what to say next, maybe he should talk about the duel last night?
“I couldn’t do it yesterday, but now I want to thank you, you saved us all...”
“...I didn’t intend to save you, I had to punish him. I am not your mama, next time help yourself.”
Ben was startled for a second then he looked down, Alan sure was right. But if he would have taken the duel, all of them would be dead by now. There was no way he could deal with such a powerful opponent.
Meanwhile Alan threw the blanket away and stood up, he obviously wasn’t interested in a conversation.
“There’s something I wanted to ask you...”, Ben tried it again with a sheepish voice.
“Spill it...”, the blonde boy replied annoyed.
“Your duel was so great, I really was impressed, maybe you could give me a few tips to improve my deck?”, he smiled again.
Alan raised one eyebrow. “You want me to teach you?”, he smirked amused.
“Right...will you?”
“No way...do I look like a fuckin’ personal trainer?”, he said and grabbed some clothes from his wardrobe. “As I said: you need help, help yourself.”
Ben grit his teeth, why did he do this at all, even though this guy was strong and cool he was, as Toni would say, a cold idiot. “But...”
“No “buts”, no one can teach you the thing you lack...”, Alan continued while pulling some clothes out of his wardrobe.
Once again the brown-haired boy was speechless, it somehow seemed that Alan wanted to help on his own weird way. >What is it that I lack...I just am bad at deckbuilding and playing, but that is something you can learn...<
The door to the bathroom opened and Toni came out, now dressed in her Osiris uniform.
“I heard you guys talking, something interesting?...”, she asked.
“No...”, Alan said, grabbed the door and entered the bathroom before Ben could even articulate his question.
>Damn...what to do now?<
“Was he rude again?”, she asked and looked at Ben with worried eyes.
“No...actually I think he wanted to help...”

The problem with taking a day off is that you may not be seen by anyone who would tell a teacher and when you are on an island, you don’t have many choices where to go. So the only thing the inhabitants of room 19 could do was getting out of the room and explore the island a bit, because Daitokuji surely would check on them.
Ben was still worried about the exam on the next day and walked slowly after Toni and Alan.
They had already gone quite a long way along the cliffs with only Toni talking about the surroundings or some other stuff, she really had trouble keeping her mouth shut. Ben couldn’t concentrate on her, he just couldn’t think of anything else then Alan’s sentence.
>...the thing I lack...thing I lack...arrr this drives me crazy!!<
The source of his thoughts was only walking only two meters beyond him and yet he couldn’t find the courage to ask him again. They hadn’t talked all the time.
“Damn...I am starving guys...we really need to get some food!”, Toni said holding her growling stomach. Another problem with skipping classes: You can not just show up at the regular eating hours in the dorm, this would be extremely suspicious.
Before Toni had mentioned it Ben didn’t even think of eating, he was feeling much too sick, but now his stomach growled, too.
“...there are some rabbits and birds in the forest...”, Alan mentioned seriously.
Some frowns of disgust appeared in Toni’s face.
“I am not a stupid hunter, you know? I want something that is dead already.”, she said sharp.
“Hey look!!”, Ben exclaimed and pointed to a building only a short walk away, it was build in a modern way with many big windows. The walls were painted in a light yellow. It was at least twice as big as the Osiris dorm. Obviously it was the dorm of the students who aced through their entrance exam.
“The Ra-dorm...”
“They won’t even let us in there...not to mention giving us food...forget it.”, Toni mentioned with a sad face. It was unfair, but as a Red you were just a good for nothing loser, and nobody of Yellow and Blue wanted to have contact to losers.
“Hey, you there!!”, a voice suddenly shouted, making Toni and Ben freeze.

Only few minutes earlier, Rick had finished his first class of Spell-use and walked back to his dorm to prepare for Quick-play-strategies. Classes were quite boring today, the teachers couldn’t tell him something he didn’t know before. Of course even he didn’t know about all the spell cards in the game, but...well that is what the text on them is for, right?
Anyway tomorrow would be a great day, the practical exam. Rick just couldn’t wait to this new battle. Who might be his opponent? Which strategies might he use? It was really tensing.
He had thought about the duellist whose aura he had felt last night quite many times this morning. It would really be interesting to fight him tomorrow, but on the other hand he didn’t even know his name.
While walking towards his dorm he hadn’t met anyone, they all were in school right now, only three Osiris students were ill, as Yuki Judai had told the teacher, so these three should be in there rooms now.
He didn’t have to hurry, his next class wouldn’t start before one hour, so he walked slowly with his hands in his pockets.
It really was a nice day, the air almost seemed to reek of duellist energy, the sun sent a soft yet warm light over the island.
Rick wore his Ra-uniform and found it to be quite hot. The weather on this island was really weird, the nights were quite cold and the days got pretty warm sometimes, you couldn’t decide if you should wear the jacket or not. So most of the students just decided to wear them all the time.
After the duel with Misawa he didn’t have another one, Misawa was busy with his studies and creating new decks. He really was a theoretical guy, and seemed to fight a duel in his head before it even started. Rick surely admired his duelling skill, but still, planing every turn of a duel was boring. It were the unpredictable moves of the adversary that made a duel so intense. Only a duel of this kind made his soul burn with fire.
Just as he smirked at this thought the yellowish building, that the Ra-dorm was, appeared in front of him. From the first day on, he didn’t really like the architecture of it, so cold and shaped like block. The shape of a pagoda would have been much more nice.
Suddenly a tickling feeling went through his body, you could compare it with the feeling in the second before you get goose bumps. There was no mistaking it, a duellists aura, no three, but one was extremely weak almost not possible to feel.
>Someone is here...but who?”
He crouched down and looked around until he could see the small group, two boys and a girl, dressed in Osiris uniforms. Rick smirked a bit.
>Ill, huh? Well, they seem quite sane to me...<
Of course he should have told a teacher, but that would be low. This guys were duellists like himself so they were as close as family. But still, what were they doing here? If they would be seen by a teacher they’d have a big problem.
He sneaked to the side until he was behind their backs and approached silently, he didn’t want to scare them, but it would not be wise to approach them from the front. He knew that Osiris students mustn’t enter the Ra-dorm and if they would be detected they were in trouble, so they most likely would run away when they saw a Ra –student.
While approaching he could see them a bit better, a blonde boy with a emotionless face, a dirty-blonde girl that hold her stomach and a small brown-haired boy. They were absolutely walking towards the dorm. They were really lucky that he was here now and not one of the other Ras.
He stopped sneaking and stood up from the ground.
“Hey you there!!”, he shouted and started to walk towards them.

Alan stayed clam and checked the Ra-student quickly while Toni and Ben were frozen in shock, their faces white as snow.
The boy was about the same age as Alan, had black short hair and a wore black clothes under his yellow jacket, whose bright color absolutely didn’t fit to the rest of his outfit.
Toni and Ben turned slowly, almost mechanically, they really feared that a teacher spotted them.
“Who are you...?”, Alan asked sharp.
“Sorry guys, I didn’t want to scare you, I am Misamoto Rick”, he said and continued with a worried face. “Well...do you think it is wise to be running around here... while you should be lying in bed ill?”
Tonis heart skipped one pound, she remembered seeing this boy in their classes, so he knew that they were taking a day off. If he’d talk, they’d be busted.
The boy showed a small grin and waved his hand. “I won’t tell anyone, if this is your concern. But you really should hide somewhere!”
“Yeah, we will, tha...”, a big growl coming from her stomach stopped her sentence.
She blushed momentarily.
“Sounds like you’re hungry, huh?”, the boy smiled. “Since you are here anyway, why don’t you come in and try the Ra-canteen?”
Tonis eyes sparkled like a clear night’s sky, her lips showed a bright smile.
“Thank you...!!”, she said, but then her smile collapsed. “But, we may not go in, if we are seen...”
“Don’t worry, everyone is in classes right now, the teachers, too. Thus, no one is inside the dorm right now”, Rick replied and started to walk towards the dorm. “Just follow me.”
Toni run after him while Ben and Alan walked slowly behind.
“A friendly guy, don’t you think?”, Ben asked.
“I don’t trust him...”, the cold boy answered without mentioning, that he most likely trusts no one.

The Ra dorm was a very sterile looking building. It was surely much more comfortable then the Osiris dorm, but all the walls were equally painted in a soft yellow, the doors all had the exact same distance and the exact same look. Cutting a long story short: It was a boring building. In Red you had many cracks in the walls or they were painted in many different colors, because there was no money for an equal painting.
The boy that introduced himself as Rick Misamoto lead them through the numerous ways with Toni walking directly behind him. Ben and Alan still kept a small distance, just in case that the boy was leading them into a trap. They had heard some storys from Sho and Judai of higher students doing such things to new Osiris students. Especially a boy called Manyjoume liked to do this stuff to remove “drop-outs” from school.
“There we are.”, the black-haired boy said and pointed to a big two-angled door with the kanji for “dining room” on it.
He opened the door slightly and looked inside carefully. “Just as I expected, no one is here, come in.”
As the door opened a big room opened in front of the three Osiris-students. It had much more tables then the Osiris canteen and all tables were made of an expensive wood. The kitchen seemed to be behind a door in the left wall.
Toni stepped in quickly and the remaining two followed.
Closing the door behind them Rick walked towards the kitchen door, that was exactly looking like any other door in this dorm.
Normally a group of chefs cooked the meals, but they were inside the academy when it wasn’t time for meals and cooked for the teachers. It should be no problem to snatch some food for his comrades.
“You fine with sandwiches? We shouldn’t leave to much evidence...”, Rick asked.
Toni nodded strongly and went after him into the kitchen.

About twenty minutes later all four of them sat on one of the expensive tables with four empty plates in front of them. Toni laid back in her comfortable chair and smiled satisfied.
“Ahhh...that was great...I am stuffed.”, she declared happily.
“Good to hear that...”, Rick said and smiled back at her, he was glad that he could help them.
“Why did you do that?”, the blonde boy asked and glared at Rick coldly.
While they were eating Toni had introduced him as “cold-idiot” Alan Riley, thus Rick was already prepared for his funny behaviour.
“Well, we all are duellists, aren’t we? In my opinion there shouldn’t be any ranking among us, constructed by an exam. We are all equal, we should be friends not rivals.”, Rick replied truth
fully with a serious face.
Alan just shrugged his shoulders without saying anything.
“He means that you are right...”, Toni translated with an annoyed tone, Alan really could warm up a bit more.
Rick kept smiling, he really enjoyed being with these guys. Apart from Misawa, there were not many Ras you could have fun with, they were either too stiff or too snobby.
“So, what are you planning on doing now? You cannot go back to your dorm now, that is for sure.”
“I think we will continue our exploring trip until it is evening and return then.”, Toni said a bit depressed. She liked to explore the island, but still she preferred to relax somewhere until her skipping would be forgotten. Walking long distances was not really her strong point. The boys remained silent, especially the small boy, that Toni had introduced as Ben Carter seemed frustrated.
Rick thought about it for a few seconds, he should send them away now, If he would be found with them now, he’d be in trouble too. But then again being with them really sounded much more interesting then a lesson with Professor Chronos.
“If you want, you can stay with me...I was bored anyway.”

Chapter 16: The Underdog, part two

Professor Chronos starred at the class in front of him with glaring eyes. He just couldn’t believe that the dropout-boy was still here. Could he have beaten the mercenary? It seemed impossible, but that has his own defeat been as well.
Something was definitely going all wrong in this school since that damn Yuki Judai has arrived, many of the students did no longer admire him for his duelling as he deserved, that was unbearable. Even though no one said it, he knew that they were talking behind his back, even the teachers...
And this morning was another nail to his coffin: First he had to see that his master plan to remove Judai had failed, then some students were skipping his class, his class!!!
Of course, Yuki said that they were sick and couldn’t come to classes, but that was a lie obviously.
These four students must be skipping because they didn’t respect his authority as a teacher and duellist. That was unexceptable!!
The thin funny looking professor grit his teeth, what made him look even more weird then usual.
>This demands punishment!!<, he thought and clenched his fist until his wrists turned white.
“Is something wrong with the professor, he is trembling...”, Sho asked his neighbour Judai with a worried face, but this one was already sleeping again, with fake eyes painted on his lids.
“Hrm...”, Sho mumbled and laid back in his chair. He was tired, too. This night was so terrible, but he just didn’t have the guts to sleep in classes.
Meanwhile Chronos had thought of the situation, he had to state an example at this four kids, he couldn’t let his authority go that easy, he was Chronos de Mediz, the head of the Obelisk blue, the teacher of the elite.
“I have to go for some time. You read the chapters 10 to 55 in your strategy guide, I want each of you to prepare an oral presentation of one Quick-Play spellcard.”, he declared very furious and stomped up the stairs. The door shut behind him only a second later.
Misawa Daichi looked after him a bit worried and wondered what Rick was doing. He said, he’d just fetch a book and come back. That was one hour ago.
Maybe Chronos noticed him missing, together with the three Reds that were friends of Yuki and Sho apparently. If they were skipping classes together they’d be in deeeep trouble, Chronos was absolutely ruthless when it came to his lessons and his honor.
>Rick...don’t do something stupid...<, he thought and opened his book.

The targets of Chronos’ rage had cleaned up the dinning room of the Ra dorm and were now sitting in Rick’s and Misawa’s room talking. Or better they were looking at many cards lying on the floor.
It was Toni’ s deck or at least parts of it, after she wasn’t able to construct it properly last night and would not have much time this night, now was the best time. Especially since a Ra student was there to help her.
Rick watched through the cards concentrated one after the other and nodded slightly: “Well...your deck is good...”, he said and reached for a box on his desk, which he used to keep his rare cards in. “You additionally try with these three, I think they will fit quite well”, Rick said after looking through her cards for some minutes and handed her three cards.
“Woah, these are rare cards, you cannot just give these to me”, she replied humbly.
The boy in the yellow uniform smiled friendly. “Don’t worry, I cannot use this cards in my deck so they are wasted in my box, just take them and use them wisely.”
Alan sat next to the girl and watched silently while she took the three cards thankful and slid them into her deck. They were really good, not only rare, if she would be able to use them properly she could become dangerous. This Rick really knew what he was talking of.
“I really thank you for your help, but now I have to test this deck at SOMEONE”, she pronounced the last word much too strong and threw a faint gaze at Alan, who looked back unmoved, like ever.
Toni ’s forehead vein twitched strongly and she clenched her fist. “I mean you, you cold idiot!! Get your ass up, I want a duel, now!!”
“No...I don’t duel for fun...find someone else...”, Alan replied silently and looked away.
The dirty-blonde girl was really fed up with his behaviour...what was this idiot thinking he is?
“Ok, thanks you for nothin’ then...”
“Your welcome...”, he replied sarcastically and crossed his arms in front of his chest.
Toni turned away from this cold freak towards Rick, who was now sitting on his own bed looking at the funny scene of this two Reds.
He really enjoyed their company, he had to do something like that much more often. The problem with the Ra dorm was that most of the students here were absolutely boring, because they were studying all the time and had no time to have fun. Even Misawa was working on his studies and decks all the time.
Somehow Rick though that it might have been better for him to fail the exam and enter the Red dorm.
“What about y...”, Toni started, but was suddenly stopped by another voice.
“I’ll do it!!”, shouted Ben with a trembling voice, he had been quite silent the last minutes.
Toni looked at him with surprised big eyes, after fully understanding what he just said she smiled brightly: “Okay, fine with me!!”
Rick smirked while standing up. He would have liked to duel this girl also, but this boy seemed to need the training a lot more then he did. “Alright, I’ll take ya to the arena to make this a bit more official.”
Ben didn’t say anything, he had a serious look upon his face with his upper lip trembling nervously. Toni stood up and followed Rick to the door with Alan walking behind her slowly, he gazed at Ben for one second and smirked a bit.

“Ahaa!!”, Chronos yelled triumphing. “I knew it!!”
He was standing in room 19 of the Osiris dorm, the empty room, as he just found out.
Just as he expected all three inhabitants were gone. If they were really sick, his name was Bud Spencer.
How could they have the nerve to be skipping his sacred classes? Especially drop-outs like them needed a good teacher and hard lessons to become good one day and he was surely the best teacher.
“If I get you in my hands...!!”, he cursed and stormed out of the room.
There were several places they could have gone, but judging form the fact that a Ra students was missing too, he had a very concrete idea where he could find them.
With glowing anger in his eyes he walked in the direction, that the Ra dorm was located in.

After only a few minutes of walking Rick had brought them to the Ra-arena, where he had fought Misawa some days ago, it was like the rest of the dorm completely empty.
Toni was surely impressed by the big dome like room, her dorm didn’t even have an arena, let alone such a big one. There was surely enough space for one hundred visitors around the actual arena.
“Woah, you can use this arena for your duels? That is so cool!!”, she said overwhelmed.
“Haha... no...this arena is only used for official duels and demonstrations of strategy...we aren’t allowed to use it for private duels. But...actually no one cares. We use it when the teachers are away or during the night.”, Rick explained and handed the girl a duel disc that was kept in a storage next to the arena.
Toni nodded and walked up the three steps to the arena ground.
Her opponent Ben was already standing up there and looked at his deck uneasy and trembling. He knew Toni ’s deck after looking through it several times, but even if he could think of a suitable anti-strategy, there was no guarantee.
While he put his shuffled deck into the holder of his disc Toni took her place at the other side of the arena. She smirked at Ben and activated the duel-field.
“I won’t go easy on you!”, she declared and drew her starting hand.
“I w-will not loose, either!”, Ben said quite silent with trembling voice and drew five cards.
Rick positioned next to the still silent Alan, who was standing next to the arena in his typical pose.
“Alright guys, I want you to play a honorful duel, fair and square. Now go!!”, Rick shouted to start the duel.

Toni: 4000
Ben: 4000

The first turn came to Ben, drawing his sixth card he looked at his hand with a bad feeling in his stomach. He created this deck after this particular day, now was the time to find out if he really could win with it.
“I summon Gigobyte (Aqua/Reptile/1/350/300) in attack position and set three cards, that’s it for my turn.”, he said and placed the cards in his disc.
Toni raised one eyebrow while she looked at the tiny monster that stood now in front of Ben. It was only half as big as Ben, and looked like a small dinosaur with a big head.
“Are you sure you want to do this?”, Toni asked unsure. This monster was one of the weakest in the whole game and it didn’t even have an effect, playing it in attack mode is like begging for an attack. Maybe he wanted to use it as a bait for one of his face downs?
The girl drew her sixth card and thought of a strategy, she didn’t have a card to destroy his facedown cards so she only could try to attack, but before she had another card for him.
“I start my turn with the activation of Meteor of Destruction (Spell/Normal/ You can not activate this card when your opponents LP are 3000 or less. Do 1000 points of direct damage to your opponents LP.)
As she slid the card into her disc the ceiling darkened in a black cloud, which was spilt only seconds later by a big meteor burning in red flames.
Ben covered his face with his arms as the holographic stone ball hit him directly and send him to the ground.

Ben: 3000

“Hey, you alright?”, Toni asked a bit worried, while Ben fought himself to his feet again, he looked quite done for. “S-sure, go on already...”
“Okay, you asked for it, I summon Solar Flare Dragon (Fire/Pyro/4/1500/800/ As long as this card is face up on the field the opponents can not attack other Pyro monsters. During your End Phase do 500 Damage to your opponent) and attack your Gigobyte with it.”
In front of Toni arose a snake-shaped monster that seemed to consist entirely of shining magma. The glowing of his skin was really blinding.
“Sorry... I activate this card: The league of Uniform Nomenclature(Trap/Normal/ Activate this card by selecting one Level 2 or lower normal monster on your field. Special summon all monsters of the same name from your hand or deck.)” His flipped up card showed the image of three identical creepy looking yellow monsters in a swearing pose. “Thus I can special summon all other Gigobyte from my deck!”; Ben declared and selected the two cards from his deck and placed them on his disc in attack position.
“Still I continue my attack at one of your monsters!!”
The magma snake took a deep breath and spit a ball of fire at one of Ben’s Gigobyte, but apparently the monster exploded before the ball even hit it’s target.
“Nani?”, Toni gasped.
Suddenly her Dragon froze in mid of it’s movement and then exploded into thousands pieces.
“That was my other facedown, Order to Charge (Spell/ Quickplay/ Select one normal monster on your field to activate this card. When this card resolves offer the selected monster as a tribute to destroy one monster on the opponents field.). It offered one of my Gigos and destroyed your monster.” The open card showed the image of a captain ordering his troops to attack.
Toni smirked and selected another two cards from her hand. “Great play, Ben. I set two cards and end my turn then.”, she said, but was interrupted by Ben right after she set her second card. “Sorry again, but in your End Phase I activate my last trap: Order to Smash!!(Trap/Normal/ Offer one Level 2 or lower normal monster as a tribute to destroy one or two spell or traps-cards on your opponents field.)
His trap opened showing a gong and a small monster in front of it. Behind the gong stood a very familiar figure. Dark Ruler Hades.
Alan looked at it smirking slightly, he had seen this card before, but he couldn’t use it in his own deck. As quick as it came the smirk was gone again, he knew that Ben would lose...
Toni grumbled a bit while she put her two traps into the graveyard. Her field was completely wiped out and she only had two handcards left, this wasn’t looking too good...
Ben was still trembling without any reason, he too had only two cards left, but one Gigobyte on his field.
He drew his third card and smiled as it was the card he got from his sister, the card he had looked at this morning. “I activate Heart of the Underdog (Spell/Continuos/During your Draw Phase, if you draw a normal monster you can show it to your opponent to draw another card)”
The girl raised one eyebrow. “Underdog?” The card appeared on the field and showed the image of a little burglar running away, Toni couldn’t really understand what Ben was doing.
“Next... I will summon Kozaky(Dark/Fiend/1/400/400) in attack position.”
>Another one of these weak normal monsters, what kind of strategy is this?<, Toni thought and braced herself for the obviously following attack of this two monsters.
The new monster on the field was basically a humanoid fiend with a dark violet skin. It was wearing a white laboratory coat covered with dirt.
“This sure is an unusual deck, don’t you think?”, Rick asked with an amused tone in his voice, it really seemed that he was enjoying the duel.
“...he is weak...”, Alan replied silently.
Meanwhile Ben ordered his two monsters to attack Toni directly, Gigobyte jumped forward and took a deep byte into her arm like giant piranha while Kozaky took a pencil form his coat and stabbed it into her leg. “Ahh...that hurts you piece o’...!!”, she screamed at the small monster, but it just smiled and walked back slowly.

Toni: 3100

“Pff...I sure hope that was not everything...”, Toni said confidently.
“...I’m done...”, Ben said silently, his attacks didn’t even took as much LP as her spell took from him and he didn’t have any face downs left to stop her from attacking, what if she would be able to summon a strong monster now?
“My turn...Draw!!”, Toni declared as she drew her third card, her eyes widened, it was one of the three cards given to her by Rick. With no other monsters in her hand, she didn’t have much options left so she decided to test it.
“Okay, I start with summoning my new friend: Horus the Black Flame Dragon Lv4(Fire/Dragon/1600/1000/The control of this card cannot switch as long as this card remains face up on the field. During the End Phase of a turn in which this monster destroys another monster in battle and sends it to the graveyard, send this card to the graveyard to special summon one Horus the Black Flame Dragon Lv6 from your deck or hand.)”
The monster appearing on the field was a bird like dragon that seemed to consist of a silvery metal, it was not very big and his wings were small.
“Ah, good to see my Horus on the field.”, Rick said smiling, while Alan asked himself if the girl could use the full potential of this card.
“Now Horus attack his Gigobyte!!” She declared and the small dragon spit out a ray of black fire at the reptile monster of Ben and roasted it easily. Ben screamed as the fire reached him and took a big piece of his LP.

Ben: 1750

The small boy knelt down and coughed loudly, even though it was only imaginary pain it felt damn realistic. It even seemed to him that he inhaled some of the smoke.
“I set one card and end my turn with it...”, Toni said and felt a bid sorry for the boy.
Suddenly as her End Phase started her Horus Lv4 began to glow brightly, his wings enfolded and he screamed in a loud shrieking voice.
Rick smirked and watched how the dragon started to grow to at least twice his height and seemed to get stronger, its voice turned much deeper and sounded more furious.
“What is this?”, Ben asked trembling. His eyes met the ones of the new Horus and he couldn’t breath for a second.
“Well... when my Horus Lv4 destroys a monster in battle I can evolve him to Horus Lv6(Fire/Dragon/6/2300/1500/This card in unaffected by any spellcard. During a turn that this card destroys a monster as a result of battle and sends it to the graveyard, send this card to the graveyard to special summon one Horus Lv8 from your hand or deck)”, Toni explained as she slid the Lv4 Horus in her grave and selected the Lv6 from her deck.
Ben looked at the much bigger dragon and breathed hard, how could he even think of beating such a monster?
“M-my t-t-turn...draw...”, The boy whispered and drew his second card. His Underdog card glowed. “The effect of my card will be applied now, since I drew a normal monster...”, he turned the card and showed another Kozaky in his hand, “...I can draw another card.”
He drew it and hoped for another normal monster, but it wasn’t. At least this card would be able to protect him from her Horus.
“I-i play Level Limit Area B(Spell/Continous/Switch all lv4 or higher monsters on the field to defence position, this positions cannot be changed as long as this card remains face up on the field.). Thanks to it, your Horus will be staying in defence for the remainder of the duel...”, Ben explained as the card appeared next to his Underdog. It showed some kind of a laboratory entrance with a big B on the door.
“You sure?”, Toni said with a big smile, her Horus stayed unmoved.
“But, he is a Lv6 monster he has to go to defence!!”, Ben mumbled shaken.
“Well, my Horus is unaffected by spells...pity, isn’t it?”
Ben trembled even more, with her Horus staying in attack he had no chance to survive another attack with her monster. “I set my second Kozaky in defence mode and turn the other to defence, too...turn ended...”
The two fiend-scientists crouched down with a scarred look upon the big dragon on the girls field.
“Okay then...draw!!” She looked at the two cards in her hand and smiled with a burning glare in her eyes.
“I first activate my face down, Phoenix Wing Wind Blast(Trap/Normal/Discard one card from your hand to the graveyard to return one card on your opponents field to the top of his/her deck.). With it I will sent your Level Limit back to your deck!!” She selected one card from her hand a slid it into her grave. Ben’s card disappeared from the field.
He could not really understand what she was doing, when her Horus was unaffected by spells, what was the point in returning it to his deck? Unless...
“I will now summon Flame Ruler(Fire/Pyro/4/1500/1000/In a tribute summon of a fire main-type monster this monster can be used as two tributes.) in attack position!!”
The monster was a human-shaped being with several flames around and on his body.
“...no...”, Ben whispered.
“Now Flame Ruler and Horus lv6 destroy his two monsters!!”
The two Kozakys screamed in fear as they were roasted by the two fire based monsters.
With no cards left in her hand Toni ended her turn, but entering her End Phase her Horus started to glow another time.
“Don’t tell me...!”, Ben gasped and widened his eyes.
“Exactly, my Lv6 has the same effect as lv4 after destroying a monster he evolves to Lv8!!!”
The dragon grew to at least twice it’s seize and was now towering up to the ceiling of the duel arena. Horus the Black Flame Dragon Lv8 had risen. (Fire/Dragon/8/3000/2300/This monster cannot be normal summoned or set, this monster cannot be special summoned except by the effect of Horus Lv6. You can negate the activation and effect of spellcards as long as this card is face up on the field.)
“He, she made it, she used the full power of the Black Flame Dragon. Great!!”, Rick said admiring.
“That was not everything...she has planned the following turn perfectly. He has lost.”
Ben stared at the now ten meters high monster frozen, what could he do against such a strong monster? He drew a card and knew that it would have been his Level Limit, which she had sent to his deck.
“Is your Horus Lv8 immune to spells, too?”, he asked while he added it to his last hand card.
“Well...no...”, she replied and smiled.
Ben thought for a second, maybe he did not lose already?
“I activate my Level Limit then...”, he declared silently and slid the card into his disc.
Horus and the Flame Ruler remained unmoved, well not just this Horus opened his mouth and spit a massive blast of black fire at the spellcard, burning it easily.
“Nani?”, Ben asked terrified...he wished he could use his PDA in a duel, then a monsters effect would not be able to surprise him.
“Sorry, my Horus negates any spell I want to be negated, thus your card if destroyed.”
Ben looked at his last handcard, a useless equip-spell, and then at the two monsters on Toni ’s field.
Dropping to his knees he started to cry. “I-i g-give up...”

Ben: 0

The small boy started to cry loudly, it felt so embarrassing to crouch at the ground and cry but he just couldn’t help it. He remembered the duel with his sister several years ago, the outcome was the same, he had lost after only two turns.
He had to face it, he was just weak and after tomorrow he would be leaving the island.
He had had a sweet dream, but now that dream had left him.

Chapter 17: The Underdog, part three

Alan narrowed his eyes in disgust, Ben was really a wimp, breaking down like this because he lost this training duel was pitiful.
His opponent, Toni Williams, stood on the other side of the arena startled, she could not fully grasp what was wrong with Ben, but she began to understand...
Slowly Alan walked over to the arena and ascended the stairs with such a angry look upon his face that Toni got really worried for the poor boy.
Sighing loudly Rick followed him, just in case he had to stop the blonde boy from going to far, he was obviously furious.
“Shut up, now!!”, Alan shouted and grabbed the sniffling small boys collar, his eyes glowed icy, he grit his teeth.
Ben was terrified by this look, he felt like death himself was looking at him, his heart stopped for at least a second. He couldn’t even breath and just starred in the darkness of the blonde boys eyes with an open mouth. He even forgot to crying.
“You now what?”, Alan continued, “I really hate weak people...”.
Toni walked nearer, “...Alan...”, she said silently, putting one hand on the boys shoulder...she felt that she had to do something. “Silence!!”, he replied rudely. And Toni stepped back, she once again had to have faith in this cold idiot, he sure knew what he was doing...or so she hoped.
Alan turned back to Ben and talked on: “...but I even more hate people with a weak spirit that always think about their defeat, when they could be winning. There is no possibility to win if you don’t believe in yourself!!”
He opened his hand and dropped the shocked boy to the ground, where he stayed and looked up at the furious boy, it took him some seconds to realise, that he was actually right. At every second of this duel he was just frightened what Toni might do in her next turn, he always thought that the current turn would be his last. He even forgot about his own strategy in this thoughts...
“Ben...”, Toni started with a worried face. “You know, I don’t like his style, but this cold idiot is somehow right, you have to believe in yourself, even if it is hard”, she gave him a hand and pulled him to his feet.
Rick set one hand on Ben’s shoulder. “Mark their words, my friend, they know what they are talking about. Show your opponent tomorrow all your strength!! Never turn back never fear defeat or failure. Only then you have a chance to be winning.”
Ben nodded slightly: “Thanks, guys. Toni, Alan, I really owe you one for that”, he still felt very down, but the words of these people made him feel much better.
“Pah...”, Alan made and turned away with his arms crossed.
“Hehe, alright, beat me in a duel and we are even again”, Toni said and grinned friendly.

“Huff...huff...I finally made it!!”, the odd figure in front of the Ra dorm shouted, he was completely done for. Chronos had been running all the way from the Osiris dorm here and was now ready to punish these four slackers. He would send all of them home when he just got them in his fingers, oh yes!!
He stomped towards the entrance and kicked it open.

The four “slackers” were just done with tidying up the arena and putting the discs back to the closet. Ben was still thinking about the words of his friends. All the time he had studied so much of strategy and combos that he forgot about the most important thing that a duellist needed.
Spirit and courage, nothing was more important then that, his sister had told him several years ago, but he forgot about it in his studies.
“Well, it is time for us to go, I think...”, Toni started after they had finished. “We could have lunch and tell Daitokuji that we are feeling better now.”
“Yeah, that’ll be the best, because the other Ras will be coming soon and then you would be in trouble.”, Rick replied and smirked brightly, “But if you ever feel like skipping again, let me know.”
Toni smiled back at him. This would sure be the beginning of a wonderful friendship.
The blonde boy, Alan, thought of it just as a waste of time, still wasting your time here was better then wasting it in Chronos lessons.
After walking some minutes through the wide halls of the dorm towards the entrance, they reached the big two-angled door that would lead them out of the dorm.
Toni walked next to Alan without saying anything, she thought about thanking him for the lecture he had given Ben, but obviously he wanted to pretend to be the “bad” boy, so be it. She had to giggle silently on this thought what got her an funny side look of the blonde boy, most likely he was thinking that she was stupid. This thought made her laughing even more.
They did not notice the shadow that was following them.

Chronos had searched the living room and the room of the missing Ra students without finding even one of the slackers, he had feared that they were in the forest, where he would not been in able to find them, but just the second he finished this thought he heard voices. Voices coming from the duelling arena, he almost screamed out his happiness, but before he was even able to open his mouth, he got hit by a door.
The damn slackers had opened the door of the arena so quickly that he was not able to escape and got it directly in his face while he was pushed against the wall. “Mama mia...”, he sighed silently and slid down the wall.
After he managed to stand up again he followed them quickly into the entrance hall and finally could see them completely, they were all there Misamoto, Riley, Williams and Carter, the dropouts. Apparently they were having much fun, but not for long that was for sure.
He just waited for the right moment, which came only some seconds later. The girl was just opening the door as he finally stepped forward and laughed like a big time villain.
“Gotcha!!”

The inhabitants of room 19 and Rick turned in shock and widened there eyes as they recognised who the person was. Tonis mouth stood wide open as she turned pale. Alan glanced at the professor challenging. He surely was not frightened by this guy.
“P-professor Chronos?”, Toni mumbled with trembling voice, for her that was the worst possible ending for their little trip. Not only that the teacher whose class they were skipping at the moment found them. No... he found them inside the Ra dorm which they may not even enter at all...oh crap...
“Exactly Seniora Williams. Professor Chronos de Mediz, the leader of the Blue dorm and your teacher in card-knowledge, what you should have...hm...like now?”, his violet lips formed a demonic smile.
“This is not what it looks like, really!!”, Toni tried, but was interrupted by Chronos.
“Ha, silence!! You will be expelled, and that means, three dropouts less. As for you Senior Misamoto, I am deeply disappointed of you. As a Ra-Yellow you should have known better.”
Rick stepped forward with a serious look upon his face, none of the Osiris students had seen him that way.
“Professor Chronos...this was my idea, I made them skip the lesson, it is all my fault.”, He declared.
Toni could not believe her ears, he wanted to protect them. Most likely he thought that his punishment would not bei so bad because he was a Ra Yellow. Still...
“That is not true...we all did it together, we all are guilty.”, she said seriously with trembling hands.
“Yeah...”, Ben added.
Chronos just shrugged. “Pah...I don’t care which of you was responsible, you all are here so you all are getting expelled. Now follow me to the principal, he will make this official.”

Asuka just finished her research on her Quickplay Spell Scapegoat, which she choose, because she had it in her deck and was pretty experienced with it. Her presentation was written quickly and now, since Chronos was still not back she finally had some free time.
The night had been quite short for her and she had to think about many things. Especially her little adventure in the dorm needed to be thought over, she couldn’t find out anything about Fubuki and just got caught by this damn yami no duellist... . It seemed obvious that this guy had something to do with the missing students, but he disappeared without any tracks.
She sighed loudly and her friend Momoe looked at her curious. “You alright, Asuka-chan?”, she asked and smiled kitsune-like. “Sure...just a bit sleepy.”, she said and leaned back in her chair. She only went to this Academy to surpass Fubuki ’s duelling skills, but before she even met him once he disappeared in the dorm.
Her thoughts were disrupted by the sudden appearance of a familiar Osiris student in front of her. Yuki. “I think the others are in trouble...”, he whispered.
Asuka almost felt like waking up form a dream, she first didn’t even know what he was talking about. But after she thought about it for one second, she knew it.
He meant the cold blonde boy and his two roommates, Alan, Toni and Ben. She knew that they were skipping today, because Toni had told her that she wanted to sleep late this morning and you did not have to be a genius to add this to their absence.
“You think that Chronos is after them, right?”, she asked with a numb feeling in her stomach. Chronos was known as one of the cruellest teachers, if he finds them, they’d have a problem.
“Exactly...”, Yuki mumbled, he somehow felt that this was his fault. Since he was here Chronos seemed to be mad all the time.
“Don’t worry, they are too intelligent to get caught easily...”

Well, Asuka sure had a good opinion of the three inhabitants of room 19, but it seemed she was a bit too optimistic. Her “intelligent” friends were sitting on plastic chairs in front of a big wooden door. The principals office.
Chronos had told them to wait outside while he wanted to fill the principal in on the circumstances, he’d tell them when they had decided on their fate.
Toni felt like in her school days before the academy, she had quite an experience with detention. She was the kind of girl, who could never keep her big mouth shut and that was something many teachers had to deal with. She always criticised the lessons or the school in whole and as one can imagine, you don’t make many friends with this attitude.
It took her not much time to realise that the normal school was not the right place for someone like her. Especially after the incident with this guy, the guy she hated more then anyone else, school turned more and more unimportant for her life. But the academy was different, when she would be expelled all her plans would fail...her revenge... .
She had to enter pro league first, only then she could find this guy.
“I don’t want to be expelled...”, Ben whined. He was trembling and sobbing and that went on Alan’s nerves.
“...say what...”, he replied sharply. He seemed to be calm as usual, but in fact he was damn angry. He should have noticed Chronos much earlier, it would then have been easy to escape unseen. Anyway, he would not leave the academy, never would he go back to his family.
He didn’t know what the future might bring him, but he was sure that it was not with his family and it was no where else then here. He’d never leave the path he was walking on.
Just as he finished his thought the door opened quickly and Chronos stepped out with a snobby expression upon his face.
“Come in now!!”, he commanded.
The four students raised from their chairs and walked slowly through the door, Ben and Toni felt like they were walking the Green Mile...only some steps away from death.
Sameshima, the principal of the Asian Duel Academy, the biggest on the world next to the American Academy on a Hawaiian Island, was sitting on a big desk made from expensive wood. He was a big person, bald with a grey beard and a friendly smile on his lips.
Toni remembered him from his speech on her first day. >Hmm...at least he looks much nicer then Chronos...<, Toni thought and felt much better.
“Well, my fellow students”, the principal started, “I heard that you were skipping classes this morning. Is that right?”
Since none of the boys got his mouth open Toni stepped forward. “Let me explain the situation please. There is more about this then you think.”
“Go ahead then, please”, Sameshima said and nodded.
“We were attacked, last night by some freak. A guy calling himself a shadow duellist.”, she started her explanation and Chronos, who had been listening unnerved up until now turned even paler then he was normally.
“He even threatened to kill us...I was so scared...”, she ended the sentence with a silent sniff and went on: “...only thanks to him...”, she pointed at Alan, “...winning a duel against this Killer we survived.” Another sniff as she looked down.
>Quite an impressing play she shows here...<, Alan thought a little amused. She seemed to be willing to tell and do anything to stay at the academy. That was good.
“Nonsense!!”, Chronos shouted with a trembling voice. He seemed a bit nervous. “You just made up this stupid story!!”
“No!!”, the girl shouted back. In fact her story was absolutely true, apart from the fact that Rick had not been with them.
“You just want to escape from your rightful punishment!”
“No...I mean yes!!”
“Please, couldn’t we all stay calm”, Sameshima stopped the girl and the “adult” teacher in their quarrel.
“I really believe you, Toni-san, there was no lie in your eyes...but the rules of the academy were made by Kaiba Seto, and they are really strict. I cannot let you go without punishment.”
Toni swallowed hard and prepared for the end of her carrier at the academy. Ben seemed to prey to whatever god he believed in. The other boys stayed calm.
“Chronos suggested to expel you right away, but that is much too hard for one misbehaviour, I think. Write me an essay on the use of Trap cards during a duel, alright?”, he smiled friendly again. You could think that he was a bit too soft to be principal, but... well, who the hell cares when you are in such a situation?
Toni’ s worried face turned brighter again. Everything was okay now. Writing an essay was a breeze.
“No, I cannot accept this!”, Chronos shouted again. “You cannot really let them off so easily, these dropouts do not deserve to stay here!!”
“Chronos-sensei, you know I do appreciate your opinion, but expelling them is too harsh. If you might have another idea...”
Chronos crossed his arms and closed his eyes for some seconds...apparently he was thinking.
While he watched the creepy teacher Alan got more and more unnerved by this situation...couldn’t this be over by now? Writing an essay was damn annoying, but when it was done with this, then be it.
“Ha, I have it. Why don’t we leave it to them what will happen to them. We will split them in two groups and have them duel in two Tag-Team-Duels. I will choose the opponents.”
“Nani?...”, Toni had to swallow again. Betting her future on a duel was alright, that was nothing special for duellist, but to fight in a tag she needed a partner she could have faith in...and her choice was not great.... Ben had yet to learn to fight with spirit, Alan was nothing near a team-player and she didn’t see any of Rick’s skill yet.
“Oh yes I like this ideal, but might I suggest to Not invite tue Paradox-Brother again”, Sameshima smiled happily with glowing eyes, “Then it is decided, you will fight in two tag-duels, these will decide your fate. You can go now.”
“But...”, Toni trieb, but on the static smile on the Prinzipal’s face she knew that it was useless.
Depressed she walked out of the office together with her three comrades. Apparently Ben was even more depressed then her, most likely because he didn’t believe in his duelling skills.
Before the door closed Chronos stepped out with a triumphing expression and walked away.
“Oh this guy...I could kill him...”, Toni mumbled and growled loudly.
Rick sighed and started to walk towards classes, it wouldn’t be good to miss even more lessons now. “We have no choice...but don’t worry, all we have to do is win.”, he meant comforting. “And about that story with the shadow duellist. Could you tell me more, it really sounds interesting.”
Toni sighed too, it was clear what he wanted to do. Trying to distract them from the duel was a nice move, useless but nice. “Alright...it all started with the abandoned dorm...

The door to his office closed behind Chronos de Mediz and principal Sameshima was left alone at his desk. His smile faded quickly.
The story of the girl almost made his heart stop, it was still bumping irregularly.
“A shadow duellist...might this be the sign I have been waiting for...?”, he asked himself and narrowed his eyes.
It has been many years since one of the chairmen of the academy had entrusted him with the seven keys that could open the seal of the sangenma. The three legendary cards...
This chairman had told him that some time people would come to take the keys from him, for that time he should have his best students ready to fight them.
Sameshima stood up and turned towards his big window. When Alan Riley was able to defeat this shadow duellist, maybe he was one of the candidates. In fact, the principal only agreed to Chronos suggestion to see what these four new students were really capable of. He needed strong duellists to prepare for the upcoming fight.
------------------------------------------------------------------------Preview: Two big problems: A double-tag-duel that would decide the fate of the inhabitants of room 19 and an exam coming up. Will they be abled to survive this fate? We'll see.

Titel: "GX: The other Half of the story" von Chosen Exiled.

so dann mal weiter:

Chapter 18: Day of exam, part one: The Casanova

Monday 8.30 AM. The day of the first monthly exam.
The classroom 419 was completely filled with each of his students, they all waited for the first part of the exam nervously. It consisted of two parts, first there was a written test to be done that would take place in the morning. Then after a short break for lunch the practical exam was held. The field-test would also consist of two parts, the first was a duel against an randomly picked opponent of the own dorm. A victory qualifies you to take a second duel against a student of a higher dorm and a victory here would give you a place in this dorm.
A great chance for every Osiris to finally get off the title of drop outs, so they were all eager to take this exam.
But there was still the written part to be taken and that made anyone, even the best, a bit nervous, because the tests were constructed by Chronos, who was know for his unfair questions already.
Toni, Ben and Alan sat on their places in the Red corner and were all thinking for themselves, well meaning Toni was thinking loud...
“Arh...this reminds me of the entrance exam...I really hate written tests...”, she said, broke down on her desk and sighed. She was not that bad when it came to written stuff actually and her knowledge of cards wasn’t bad, either, but she had always been totally nervous.
Ben more feared the practical duel, he had studied all the cards in his PDA last night again and again until he wouldn’t forget them. There should be no problem he couldn’t solve, at least that was what he hoped.
Alan was lying back relaxed in his chair and starred into the nothingness in front of him, he was not caring for this exam. He had been really bad in normal school, even though he got a high outcome when he did an IQ test in elementary school. But after this year with his master, of which he still could not remember anything, he lost any interest in school. He now couldn’t even remember why...this amnesia was driving him crazy.
“Alright students I will pass out the papers now, you have 45 minutes for the whole test.”, said Daitokuji, who was the observer for this exam, and went through the rows with a big pile of test papers and handed them to the students face down.
“Now turn the sheets, Time starts...now!”, he declared loudly and smiled. “I wish you luck!”
Toni turned her paper and read the first question, it was a multiple choice task. The test was structured like the one in the exam. First ten questions on the effects of cards or their ATK/DEF values, then a guessing question where you had to find out which card(s) you would need to win a duel in one turn. It was a bit like a riddle where you had to use the small clues given in the exercise text.
Question 1: Which of this monsters is a Ritual monster:
a) Dark Magician of Chaos
b) Magician of Black Chaos
c) Dark Paladin
>Uuhh...great...aren’t they all Rituals? And a) and b) are one and the same, aren’t they?...<, Toni sighed and slid through her hair depressed, when she was not even capable of solving the first question she could forget about this.
Next to her Ben made his mark on the first question already and went on to the second one. For him it was obvious, only Magician of Black Chaos could be a Ritual monster, DMoC was an effect monster and Paladin was Fusion.
Toni already looked through the following questions and picked the few she could answer.
Question 4: Which of this cards deals the most direct damage:
a) Tremendous Fire
b) Hinotama
c) Sparks
That was an easy question since she knew almost all fire-related or burner cards from the time she constructed her deck, Hinotama does 500, Sparks 300 and Fire 1000, easy.
>But the rest...oh crap...I don’t know even one of them...should have studied more...<, she thought and tried some more.
Alan knew about some of the cards in the test and managed to pick three of them right, then he went over to the duel-question.
Task 1: Your opponent has 8000 LP and three monsters with 3000 DEF in defence position. It is your Draw Phase and you only have one card left in your deck, your hand consists only of four Level 2 normal monsters.
Question: What card do you need to draw and what must the cards in your hand be to win this duel instantly?
Alan thought for a second, when the last card would be Raigeki he could destroy all the monsters, but doing 8000 damage with one normal monster was impossible. Suddenly an image flashed through his head like if he would be remembering something. A big monster stood in front of him and he was looking at it eye to eye. He recognised the monster then the vision was gone.
Alan shook his head and smiled a bit, the vision gave him the answer somehow.
He wrote: >>I can only win when the four Normal monsters are the four body parts of the Forbbiden One and the last card I draw is Exodia the Forbidden One.<<
It was easy when you think about it, no monster could do 8000 damage through a 3000 defense wall, only the ultimate creature with an infinite ATK could win such a duel.
Alan laid his pencil on the desk and laid back in his chair again. That was as much as he could do for now. But he was still asking where that sudden vision came from, he saw the Exodia, but not as a card or hologram it was a real monster and he was not looking through his own eyes...another piece of his missing memory, or something else?
Toni meanwhile had finished her test with five correct answers, just when Daitokuji gave the timeout signal.
“Now pass your papers to the front, I am sure you all did pretty good”, he smiled and collected the sheets.
That ended the written test, the duellists left the classroom and waited for the practical exam in the afternoon.

The practical exam at Duel Academy was always a big event. It was almost as big as a tournament in pro league and was located in the biggest arena of the whole Academy. The one, that was only used for exams, demonstrations or official duels like the inter-school match with Duel Academy North or one of the other academies.
Today it was totally crowded with every last student of the academy, all eager to see some good duels before and after their own.
Being the lowest dorm the Osiris duels started first on about twenty fields in the big arena.
The parings were decided by a random generating computer just before the duels, the Osiris students were all standing on the sideline and waited for their calling. Some were shaking nervously, some were looking excited and some seemed to feel superior to the other duellists.
Professor Chronos, whom Toni had declared as her new nemesis(especially after this test...), stepped forward into the middle of the arena with a microphone in his hand.
“Goode mornin, senioras and seniores. Today we will hold our monthly practical exam, which will decide who of you are qualified for a higher level. Now may the duels begin!!”
“...still pathetic...”, Alan said silently and raised his eyes to the big LCD monitor behind the professor, that would be showing the parings now.
Toni, who was standing next to Alan, clenched her fist and swallowed hard, she had not had much sleep tonight, but that was now meaningless, the time had come and she had to be ready.
The monitor blinked two times then a tablet was shown with always two names next to each other and the field number. Toni looked for her name and could finally find her place:
Field 17: Antonia Williams against Ryoma Shigeru.
She had never seen this guy or even heard his name before. So this would be a blind date.
Asuka looked a bit worried at the screen, she was sitting in the auditorium and waited for her own duel. This guy meant trouble, that was something any girl in the Obelisk dorm had to learn, now it was Tonis turn to find out why.
Alan threw a quick gaze at the monitor and walked towards one of the fields. He was kind of surprised on who his opponent was.
Field 11: Hayato Maeda against Alan Riley
>The koala-guy...<, he thought as he reached the field with the number 11. He was not even slightly worried. He had noticed this Hayato-guy freaking out during the shadow duel, that showed what kind of guy he was. No Problem.
Ben was still very nervous and looking at the monitor made his feeling not really better, he sighed loudly.
Field 3: Ben Carter against Sho Marufuji
He knew that Sho played some king of a machine deck and even though he was an Osiris students with a bad haircut he still was the brother of Ryo Marufuji, the best duellists of this whole school. The Kaiser. Even though he never duelled him before or saw him duelling that fact had to mean something.
>...Oh hold it you coward...<, his inner voice shouted and made him feel a bit better, funnily his inner voice sounded exactly like Alan. And as he said, there was no way to win if you don’t believe in yourself. The small boy clenched his fist.

While all the students split and walked towards their announced fields, Chronos took his micro again. “Alright now, when everyone has taken his/her place we can start with the exam. Remember what is on stake here. Now go!!”, he screamed like a wrestling-announcer.
Toni tried not to get annoyed by him, even if it was quite hard. But she now had something much more important to do.
She turned around towards her field again and saw that her opponent was already standing on the other side. It was a tall boy with dark-blue eyes and dual green hair. He wore the normal Osiris uniform but with a red tie under the jacket, additionally his hair was combed back neatly and shined from the much too excessive use of styling gel.
>...freaky guy...<, Toni thought without knowing that his appearance was not even the most freakish thing about him.
“Bon jour, mon cher”, he said with a soft almost hypnotic voice and took something from the inner pocket of his jacket, something that made him look even more suspicious. A blood-red rose.
“...Uhm...yeah... hello...”, Toni replied and felt already annoyed by this guy. She punched the button to activate her duel disc.
“This is like a dream coming true. Since I have heard of a girl entering the Red dorm I wanted to meet you. I was really hoping to duel you.”, he said, swung the rose like a sword through the air tapping the button on his disc with the tip of the cord.
Toni felt slightly uncomfortable when she saw his sparkling eyes, there was a intention in them that made her get goose bumps. She swallowed and inserted her deck into her disc.
“Up until now I only saw you during the meals and I couldn’t stop looking at you, even forgot to eat, I was blinded by your beauty. Your hair, your eyes, everything...”, he sighed disappointed. “I really feel terrible to have to beat you, but after your loss in the duel I will go out with you. You could even be my girlfriend. Doesn’t that sound great?”, he took the rose into his mouth horizontally like a big time Casanova and inserted his deck into the disc, too.
“Who the hell said that I want to be going out with you, let alone be your girlfriend?!”, Toni shouted as she couldn’t believe this guys words.
“Hoho, all the girls said that at first, alright I have to force you to your luck then. Let’s make a deal. If you lose you become my girlfriend, if you win you have a choice.”
Toni was disgusted by this idiot, what kind of talking to a girl you love was that? Forcing a girl to become one’s girlfriend through a duel was lower then low...how did he manage to get to this school at all?
This guy definitely needed to be punished “...I will never become your girlfriend.”, she replied coldly.
Ryoma was apparently delighted and smiled with his white sparkling teeth. “So you accept the conditions?”
“...I will not lose, that’s all I am saying.”, she replied and drew her starting hand with a grim expression.
“You are even more beautiful when angry.”, he said and drew the first five cards.

Toni: 4000
Ryoma: 4000

“Ladies first.”, the Cazanova said humbly and bowed. He gave Toni the first turn, avoiding the stone, paper, scissors at the start of the duel.
Toni rolled her eyes and drew her sixth card.
She looked at her hand and smiled, at least this duel would not take long. She already had Horus lv4 on her hand.
“I summon Horus the black flame dragon Lv4 (Fire/Dragon/4/1600/1000/The control of this card cannot switch as long as this card remains face up on the field. During the End Phase of a turn in which this monster destroys another monster in battle and sends it to the graveyard, send this card to the graveyard to special summon one Horus the Black Flame Dragon Lv6 from your deck or hand.) in attack position and place one card face down.” Her small silvery dragon appeared in front of her looking a bit like a giant chicken. Behind it appeared her face down.
“Turn ended...”, she said and smiled on the inside. When she finally got her Lv8 out her victory was assured.
“A fine turn and a beautiful monster indeed. Let’s see what we can do about it. Draw.”
He smiled as he looked at his hand. “I play two spellcards: Branch(Spell/Continuous/When a fusion-monster is destroyed and send to the graveyard you can special summon one of the monsters used in the fusion-summon of this card from your graveyard.) and Centrifugal Field (Spell/ Field/ When a fusion monster is destroyed through a card effect select one monster in your graveyard that is written in the cardtext of the fusionmonster and special summon it to the field.)”, he declared and placed one of the cards in his field- the other in his S/T zone.
>Ahaa...seems like a fusion-based deck.<, Toni thought without much fear. Since Horus Lv8 could negate any spell the fusion card wouldn’t be of any use to him.
She grinned evilly, this guy would regret his words.
“Next I will summon Sangan (Dark/Fiend/3/1000/600/When this card is send from the field to the graveyard select one monster with an attack of 1500 or less from your deck.) and directly after this I will activate my spell Polymerisation (Spell/Normal/Fuse two or more monsters on the field). The small three-eyed orange furball called Sangan disappeared as fast a it came.
>Just as I thought...<, Toni thought again, but a bad feeling came to her stomach, she felt like she had made a big mistake.
“I fuse my Sangan on the field with my Witch of the black forest (Dark/Spellcaster/4/1100/1200/When this card is send from the field to your graveyard select one monster with a DEF of 1500 or less and take it to your hand.) in my hand, that let’s me create Sanwitch(Dark/Spellcaster/2100/1800). Sangan and the Witch appeared in the air above the field, flew together and merged into a shining light.
“Ah...isn’t that beautiful? How they merge to one like a couple in love hugging each other, don’t you think? That is why I love fusion that much. It is like creating love.”
“...jerk...”, Toni replied silently. But even if he was an idiot his fusion play wasn’t bad.
A very creepy figure appeared on the field it looked like a small priest, but it had quite a similarity to a comic figure.
“Additionally since my Sangan was on the field when I fused him his effect activates and I get to chose one monster with an attack of 1500 or less from my deck. And I take Baffomet (Dark/Fiend/5/1400/1800/When this card is summoned or reverse summoned put one “Gazelle the king of mythical beasts “ from your deck to your hand.).
Now all the preparations are done, it is time for me to show you the power of my fusion. Go Sanwitch attack her Horus!!”
Toni grit her teeth, she had not thought of him summoning such a strong monster in his first turn, her face down was not able to stop his attack. Horus was eradicated by the attack and exploded.

Toni: 3500

“I am so sorry, I hope it didn’t hurt...”, Ryoma said softly and smiled.
“Arrr...shut up!!”
“Oh mon cheri, you are so cute. Okay I am done”.
>Can’t this guy keep his mouth shut already? He is driving me crazy!!...wait a second maybe...oh Toni you cannot be so stupid can you?<, she scolded herself in thoughts.
It was so obvious. He was just talking this nonsense to make her angry and distract her from the duel. And it worked out quite well, she had lost one of her best cards already and he had build up a almost perfect combo. Almost.
“I activate my face down during your endphase!”, the girl declared and pressed the button for her card. “Dust tornado(Trap/Normal/Destroy one Spell or Trap card on your opponents field afterwards you can set one Spell or Trap card on the field.) let’s me destroy one of your spell or trapcards and I use it to destroy your spell Branch.” A small typhoon started from her now open card and shattered the continuous spell to pieces.
“And I use the second effect to set one card from my hand on the field.”
“I am impressed...”, Ryoma admired, but still seemed sure of his strategy. Even after destroying one of his spells, he had one that would re-summon Sangan or Witch, IF she could destroy his Sanwitch that was.
“You will be even more, when I am done with you.”, Toni replied and started her turn by drawing a card, “Okay, I start by opening my face down, since I played it in your turn I can use it now. Go Call of the haunted (Trap/Continuous/Select one monster in your graveyard and special summon it to your field. When this card is destroyed, destroy the monster and vice versa.)!! I use it to return my Horus to the field.”
As her card opened a crying ghost appeared from it and sank into the ground. When it came up again it had Horus Lv4 in his hands and pulled it back to the field. The chicken-like dragon screamed fierce and his eyes shined brightly.
“Oho...you brought your trump card back, huh? But he is to weak to even scratch my Sanwitchs back.”
“I never said I’d attack with Horus. It pains me a bit but... I only need him as a sacrifice!!”
Horus screamed loudly as he disappeared again and made a wall of fire erupt from the field.
>Thank you, Horus...<, she thought grateful and slid him back into her graveyard.
“Through my sacrifice I can now summon Thestalos, the firestorm monarch(Fire/Pyro/5/2400/1000/When this card is tribute-summoned successfully your opponent has to discard a card at random. When the card is a monster inflict damage to your opponents equal to its level x 100.) And now his effect activates, you have to discard a card randomly.”
Thestalos narrowed his eyes and shot a thin beam of fire at one of the two cards that Ryoma had left. “Arr...hot.”, he said and shook his burning hand. The card was shown and it turned out to be Baffomet, which he just searched via Sangan. Toni knew that Baffomet was a Fusion material to summon Chimera the Winged Phantom Beast, because Mutou Yugi used it several times.
Additionally you could use Baffomet to retrieve the other material Gazelle, from your deck, so he planned on special summoning the fusion material of Sanwitch back to the field through his two spellcards after Toni destroyed Sanwitch and then he wanted to tribute one of them for Baffomet which had activated its effect. Plus this would activate the effect of his Sangan or Witch, that would bring him another card from his deck.
A terrible combo, that could create a loop, but it had a big weakness, and that was shown now.
Anyway Ryoma was first damaged for a level 5 monster.

Ryoma: 3500

“He, now we are even again”, Ryoma said and smirked, he took the rose out of his mouth and slid it into the buttonhole of his jacket.
“Pah...we are not and we never were!!”, Toni shouted and clenched her fist, her blood was boiling. “Attack his Sanwitch my Monarch!!”
The big Monarch raised his hand and fired a real big fiery blast at the comic priest and grilled it. Ryoma ’s monster looked like a briquette with two big spiralling eyes. Only a second later it vaporised in an could of dust.
“Who likes their Sanwitch done?”, Toni smirked quite satisfied. Oh how good it felt to do this!!
Asuka, who was all the time looking from one duel of her friends to the next had to smile too, the girl kicked that Casanovas butt really good.

Ryoma: 3200

“Well done, but now I can special summon...”
Toni interrupted him right when he stretched his hand towards his graveyard. “Forget about that! You can not special summon anything”, she shouted.
“Nani...?”
“Not knowing your own cards? If you still had your Branch you could special summon whatever you wanted, but I destroyed it, leaving you with Centrifugal Field. And this card only allows you to special summon when your monster is destroyed by a effect not battle.”
Ryoma ’s face turned white his mouth stood wide open. “I thought you only used that Tornado so that you could play Call of the haunted in my turn...”
Toni smirked and crossed her arms like Alan does normally. “Pathetic...”, she said coldly and almost started to laugh out loud.
Actually if she would not have realised his stupid trash-talk and concentrated on the game she might not have come up with this strategy, she even thought that her Tornado would be useless. But after looking at the two spells a second time and seeing the call of the haunted and Thestalos in her hand she knew what to do.
“I end my turn with one card face down”, she said and slid the card in the disc.
Ryoma ’s face suddenly turned by 180 degrees his eyes narrowed and his mouth showed his gritted teeth, which were now looking like shark fangs.
“You damn witch, you will wish you didn’t do this!! DRAW!!”, he shouted and his hair fought off the styling gel and stood up in spikes, what made him look even more stupid.
He only had his two hand cards, but still he smiled, they fitted perfectly.
“I activate Re-Fusion(Spell/Equip/Pay 800 LP to select one fusion-monster in your graveyard, special summon it to the field and equip it with this card. When this card is destroyed, destroy the monster and vice versa.) and use it to special summon my Sanwitch back!!”

Ryoma: 2400

The comic priest appeared back on the field and giggled demonically.
“But that is not everything, I will boost my monsters power with this equip-spell: Fusion Weapon (Spell/Equip/This card can only be equipped to a fusion-monster, increase the equipped monsters ATK by 1500). Hehe.”
A very odd apparatus appeared on Sanwitch’ s much too small arm, it seemed a bit like the front part of a beetle. The monster seemed to have much trouble lifting it at all. Still its ATK boosted to 3600.
The boy smiled arrogantly. “Haha, now you regret not being nice to me, huh?”
“Not at all...”, Toni replied smiling.
“Grr...damn witch I will pound ya and then you have to become my slave.”
“Just play on, will you?”
The forehead vein of the boy twitched like a volcano shortly before eruption. “You asked for it!!” He raised his hand and pointed to the much weaker Thestalos. “Go, Sanwitch!!”
The priest jumped up with some problems and pointed the big weapon on his arm at the monarch of fire. A purple coloured energy started to be collected and stored inside the weapon.
“Now, everything is over!!”, Toni shouted and pressed the button for her face down. “Trapcard open: Spiritual Fire Art Kurenai (Trap/Normal/Offer one Fire monster on your field as a tribute and do damage to your opponent equal to the monsters ATK.).”
The trap flipped up and showed the image of a beautiful young sorceress, that was a bit looking like Toni. The only difference was the fire-red colour of the sorceress hair and her odd dress.
“Too bad, I offer my Thestalos to activate my card, thus you take his ATK as direct damage. That would be 2400 and that is luckily exactly the amount you have left. You lost”, the girl said and put her Thestalos in the graveyard.
The holographic projection of Thestalos exploded, exactly like it happened on the entrance exam, turned into a fireball as big as Toni and emerged her opponents without even touching Sanwitch.
“Nooo!!”, Ryoma screamed and tried to protect himself with his arms, but that was useless of course, he was attacked and suddenly stood inside a hellish inferno.
“Aaahh!!”

Ryoma: 0

The fire died out and all the cards on the field faded.
“Mark my words, Romeo, people using girls feelings and pretending to love them are the worst of all. In substitution of any girl that you ever used this dirty trick on I have send you to purgatory!!”
Toni grit her teeth as she again remembered that event in her past, which set her on the tracks of this certain duellist. There were some similarities between this Ryoma and the dirtbag of that time. The difference was that this time, she was not too late.
Ryoma couldn’t get a grip on this situation. Well, he had never succeeded with this strategy, even though he used it against every girl on the whole campus, but never had he seen such a hatred in a girls eyes. Even Tenjoin Asuka who got very furious was not even half that angry.
He turned around and walked away silently and depressed, he should never have been so stupid to try and make this girl angry, her rage was more deadly then he could ever imagine.
Toni watched him unmoved and left the arena to wait for her second duel.
